Outside Kyura sat, watching the lanky teenage cradle her greatest treasure. The look in his eyes said it all. She knew he could take could care of her baby. The sweet chime of another voice came as a second wave of ease to Kyura's heart. His mother had looked just as sweet and kind as the young man did. As the door closed behind them she struggled to get back up on her legs. "This is not a goodbye my sweet girl.. I will see you again."

As little Rowan grew, so did the space in Ben's heart for her. Every year older was a new name she had assigned him. First "Bu-bu-bu", and then "BeeBee", "Beep! Beep!" was one she seemed to favor a lot, and at this point he had stopped bothering to correct her. She was far too cute for him to even try. Every year she grew taller, her smile shone brighter. Her long jet black curls bounce around at ever turn, and her eyes. Her eyes held his heart and soul. She wasn't so much a sister to him as his mother saw, but almost like a daughter. He would do anything and everything for her. Though that still didn't stop him from partaking in childish brother/sister games, pranks, and the occasional stop for ice cream or hot chocolate. He took her to school before his own classes and work almost every morning. If for some reason he couldn't, he would make her lunch with a signed note and pick her up after. They were thick as thieves. He did however find it odd that she was around nothing but Brits and yet still held on to her born Canadian accent, strong and true. His girlfriends all thought it cute at first, but would often feel jealous and lash out at her. They teased her for being a doorstep baby, telling her she was never a part of the Cumberbatch family. Benedict would never stand for it though. He always stood by her side. "You are a Cumberbatch as much as you are a Silverwolf. Never forget that... Your mother loves you more than life itself. Both of them do." He would tickle her endlessly every time until she remembered her worth and remembered just how loved she was.
It had now been seven years since that day, and Ben had sat the young girl down almost every day since then to tell her just how much he loved her and would always protect her. Today was no different. He knew that he couldn't stay at home forever so he wanted to be sure she would never forget to confide in him. "Never be afraid to tell me anything Rowan. I promise, I'll always be there to protect you. Promise you'll always tell me. Promise." "I promise BenBen." "Pinkie promise?" Her laugh rang in his ears and always brought a flutter to his heart. "Pinkie promise." With one big final hug Ben sighed. Now at twenty-five Ben could no longer deny life's calling. He threw his bag over his shoulder and kissed her forehead. " Be good like you've always been... and help mum around as much as you can. You now how clumsy she can be." He winked, earning a giggle from Rowan and a sigh from his mother. Rowan tugged on his ginger curls one last time and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Ben could already feel the tears in his eyes begin to cloud his vision as he stood. "I'll e-mail you the second I get to my new place you two." He gave his mother one last hug and kiss, and walked out of the large oak door, off to start a new chapter in his life.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into years. Ben never faltered. He always called his mother and Rowan at least three times a week. Rowan was a quick study and soon had began texting Ben almost all hours of the day. Sending pictures and sharing stories. Ben saved every single one. His little girl was growing up so fast, it tore him up inside that he couldn't there to experience it all with her.
Eventually Ben's star had began to rise, and there was talk of his talent. Rowan had somewhat started to follow in her brother's footsteps. She began to paint, then sketch, and soon she began to write. Ben was her sole supporter. Always pushing her to do what she loved. "Find something you love, and love it hard." he would say.
It had been almost sixteen years since they had seen each other face to face. Now at twenty-three Rowan had a busy schedule of her own, and Ben had risen to fame. It was hard to keep a text thread going for the past three years what with Ben's changing schedule, but he always made it work.
Rowan sat in her study that had once been Ben's and was scribbling away at another short story. The sound of her phone buzzing across the wooden table hadn't fazed her until the familiar colors of Ben's display picture came up. She pounced for the device and swiped at the screen.
"BenBen!" She cried into the phone. Ben's laugh made her heart skip. "Row, my sweet girl how are you?" "Ben I miss you so much! When are you coming home? It's been far too long! There are only so many times mom and I can re-watch Sherlock before we start to cry again!" Ben could tell she was on the brink of tears hearing his voice, but he couldn't stop the rumble of laughter in his chest. "About that... See I've got a little surprise for you girls." "Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch, I swear to god!.... fucking hell that was a mouthful. What was mom thinking when she named you? I can't even give you shit without biting my tongue." "Language young lady~" He scolded. They both laughed the hardest they probably had in a very long time, then silence. "What is this surprise Ben?" Rowan questioned. There was a long pause, Rowan swore she could feel him smiling on the other end. "I'm coming home Rowan... I'm moving back to London." Benedict waited for any sign that Rowan had heard him, then a sob. Rowan began to cry on the other line and Ben could hardly keep his heart from swelling. "You mean it? You promise?" She managed through sobs. "I mean it sweetheart... I'm coming home. One week and It'll be you and I again. Just like old times." Rowan could barely contain her emotions. "Rowan, love it's okay... Everything is going to be just fine." Rowan nodded, thinking Ben could see her and took a deep breath. "I've gotta go now Row, but be a darling and tell mum I love her... Oh! Don't tell mum I'm coming home though. I want to surprise her." "Mkay, promise." "That's my girl. I love you Row." "Love you too BeepBeep." Ben's heart collapsed. A wave of endless memories washed over him as he hung up the phone.
