BILLY ELLIOT ; DIR. STEVEN DALDRY

starring: jamie bell, trevor fox, julie walters
genre: comedy, drama
summary: the life of 11-year-old billy elliot, a coal miner's son in northern england, is forever changed one day when he stumbles upon a ballet class during his weekly boxing lesson. before long, he finds himself in dance, demonstrating the kind of raw talent seldom seen by the class' exacting instructor, mrs. wilkinson. with a tart tongue and a never-ending stream of cigarettes in her hand, mrs. wilkinson's zest for teaching is revived when she sees billy's potential.
why i like it: why haven't more people seen this?!??!? kids, it's the sweetest film about not only ballet, but the relationship with a boy and his father in the 80s (where fragile masculinity was more of thing than it is now). not gonna lie when i was younger and i watched this jamie bell was a huge crush of mine (and understandably so i mean come on). the film itself is heartbreaking, funny and pure, and the 'we love to boogie' dance scene makes me so soft i'M ughhhHh i'm honestly gonna link it down below and then you'll see
