Life may be an arcane riddle, a play with many complementary acts or an unfinished chronicle with odd sequences. Still and all, whatever we might do or think, let us above all be attentive and expectant, since everyone is waiting for the pieces to fall into place, at one time or another.
If we don't readjust our perception in time, the screeching hinges in our mind may break for want of oil and our viewing angle narrow unremittingly, thus inducing blurred vision, misinterpretation and incomprehension.
Many can't feel anymore the freshness of their emotions that withered alongside the wearisome path of their expectations, as gloom and doom have been creeping into their lives.
They may, therefore, find comfort in a friend's company, a consolation from a particular order: a magic bottle with a life-giving potion. By breaking out the booze, they can have a ball when they feel disheartened. It gives them wings as they can swing on the waves of their fantasy like the drunken sailor is rocking on the waves of the sea in his boat.
When we view the picture, we understand that it embodies the visual angle of the drunken sailor who is watching but is not present on the canvas. We realize that we are standing next to the sailor and we feel invited to rock with him and take his identity and his current state of mind. In that way, we can create a relation between the internal space of the painting and the external world.
