Rowan hadn't moved from her desk all day, and it was driving Harry insane to say the least. A week ago, after the ambush at the bar, Rowan had been somewhat distant and lost completely in her work. She was set on finding out what her brother was up to and she felt like she couldn't sleep, eat, drink, or even shower until she did. Harry paced outside her office door for a few minutes, knowing he shouldn't bother her but dying to speak to her after hours of not seeing her. He opened her office door slightly and leaned against the frame.
"How's it going in here?" He smiled and she raised her head up to meet his eyes, and she smiled back.
"Good." She nodded before returning her eyes back to the papers in front of her and Harry groaned, she was being short again.
"You're killing me Ro." He groaned and made his way to the small chair in front of her desk, sprawling out on it. She only giggled and didn't say anything to the desperate boy in front of her.
"I'm finally starting to make some progress."
"Baby, let me help you then." Harry groaned again and Rowan chuckled looking up at him, motioning him to come sit by her. He excitedly stood and as he slid on top of her desk she chuckled kissing his hand.
"Do you remember how I told you about the whole ring thing?" Harry nodded. "Well, I thought I was going crazy honestly but then I listened to a couple new voice recordings. This ring they're talking about is missing, and I think I have it."
"What do you mean you think you have it?"
"Holden and all his men gave me this ring before a night out one time, and the most recent voice recordings have him freaking out on his men about it. I have the ring here somewhere I just don't know where. So, I called Louis to ask what the fuss about the ring was and-"
"You called Louis?" Harry raised an eyebrow and she nodded.
"Let me finish! I called Louis and he says he knows nothing about it. That only the highest men are working on it but that he has heard a few things about it and he's going to get back to me."
"Rowan, you can't just call Louis like that, what if they've tapped our phones?" Harry's eyebrows were knit together and his tone was stern, only causing Rowan to roll her eyes.
"They can't tap a pay phone Harry, I can't believe you really take me for a rookie like that." She giggled and his posture eased. She was a lot smarter than he wanted to believe, and even though he would never admit it she knew what she was doing.
"Good work King." He smiled and leaned down to kiss her, something he hadn't done in days and she smiled into the kiss. Rowan was glad that he was so happy with her work. "But, I think it's time you take a well deserved break."
"Until Louis calls back, I'm all yours Styles." And she smiled standing up to meet his eye level. He smiled and like a child, grabbed her hand and practically sprinted up the stairs with her behind him. Throwing her on the bed he kissed her for a moment before telling her to get comfortable, that he would be back in a second. She smiled and slid under the covers, pulling them up to her neck. They were warm and spelled more like Harry than they usually did. He soon returned with a handful of movies, and popcorn.
"You want to watch movies?" Rowan teased, this was the softest thing she'd ever seen him do.
"And cuddle." He winked and she smiled throwing her head back, waiting for him to slip under the covers with her. But after a minute of waiting her head picked back up to see Harry staring out the window with a hard gaze.
"Harry? What's wrong?"
"Stay here." Was all he said as he stormed out of the room and shut it quickly behind him, Rowan groaned and moved from the bed to follow behind him. She reached for the door when she realized it wouldn't budge, he had locked her in here. Soon, her fists hit the door hard and she screamed for him to come back up here. Once she realized he was not coming back, she screamed again and walked towards the window to see what had startled him so badly. That's when her eyes caught sight of loads of men in the backyard, guns drawn and aiming at something or someone.
