My abuelita just came over to our house and I died laughing. If y'all don't know Mexican and latina abuelas in general are obsessed with their grandchildren. Like majorly. It's insane how much they love us. Anyways as soon as she stepped into the house she greeted us with a giant warm smile and wide open arms like usual. She squeezed us to death and kissed our cheeks. And dear lord all the nicknames.
"¿Ay mija linda, ay mi hermosa reina, como estas?"
My abuela always calls me her reina. I'm so valid lmao. Anyway, when she got to my baby brother all hell broke loose you don't even know.
"¿Ay mijo, que tú comiste hoy? ¿Porque estas flaquito? ¿Queres un platito de frijoles y arroz? ¡Ay niño, comer!"
For some unknown reason abuelas are obsessed with feeding you no matter what. Even if you've already ate. Even if they just stopped by to get some mail. They are wiling to make some food for you and make you finish it. And for some reason they're always telling you that you're too skinny. Too flaquito! They will be so dramatic to get you to eat it's insane. My abuela wouldn't leave the house until she made us something. Eventually she just went into the kitchen and made me and my siblings some quick quesadillas. Not gonna lie they were great. I love cheese.
I don't know what the point of this was but I guess I just wanted to share and show an authentic situation involving latinx families.
Overall, abuelas are the most loving women you will ever meet and they will take care of you no matter what. However, you must beware because they can be salty and extra af. They badass.
