“Please look after Jason. Make sure he’s okay,” I told him.
My eyes were filling up with tears again.
“Your phone is international, right?” I asked,
“Then you better call and text me all the time,” I told him.
“Okay, I will,” Wade said.
“Well, I guess I should go get my stuff from Emory’s now… You better not forget me!”
“I wouldn’t dream of it,” Wade said.
I hugged him tightly and breathed in his familiar smell. I would miss him so much.
When we both pulled away, we smiled in unison. I walked over to Niall and he picked me up and spun me around.
“You get to be with me?” Niall asked.
“Yes!” I shouted.
“I love you, Ariella,” Niall said.
“I love you more, Niall,” I said.
He pressed his lips to mine.
“You know, James and Delilah were devastated…” He said.
“How are they?” I asked.
“They’re about to be a lot better once you get back.”
I put my hand in Niall’s as we got in a car to go to Emory’s. I looked out of the window at Wade. I waved goodbye as the car pulled into the road. I stared until he became a tiny little speck.
I sighed and turned my head away from the window. Niall noticed my sudden mood shift and started rubbing circles on my hand.
When we finally arrived at Emory’s apartment, I hopped out of the car eagerly. I used the key that was in the flower pot to open the door. I found my way to my room and Niall was lagging behind.
“Hurry up and help me pack,” I told him.
“So pushy,” He muttered.
I’d just finished putting all of my items into my suitcase when Niall brought me something. I glanced up and saw a picture in his hands.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“There was a note left addressed to you on it,” He said as he handed me the picture.
The writing scribbled on a post-it note on top of the picture said, “We do look like a happy family, don’t we?”
I smiled as I saw who was in the picture. It was Emory, Jason, Wade, and I. It was taken when we had our little movie night. You could tell that Wade was holding the camera as the four of us all managed to squeeze in. I suddenly had the urge to cry. I would be leaving the people that protected me from harm. These incredible people really left their mark on me.
