CHAPTER SEVEN ( dead man's party, part i )
Jax had his hands pressed on the large table in front of him for support as he watched Clary pace around the room, looking just about ready to rip her hair off. "Look at all these stuff, these screens. I mean, can any of this help us find Simon?" Clary asked, gesturing towards the many technologies they have at the Institute. "Where is he, anyway? Some kind of crypt in Transylvania?"
Jax snorted, "No, Clary, and that's what happens when you watch too many of those fantasy movies with the hot guys and everything."
"If I remember correctly, you were the one watching those movies with me. And by watching, I mean gawking at all the hot guys," she retorted, remembering all the times Jax would fanboy with her over the good looking guys they saw on tv. Movie night was something they always did every Friday night, the two would be curled up in the couch late at night and watch just about anything. Although Jax had made it very clear that he hates the Twillight movie, mainly because of horrible representation of vampires and werewolves. Clary didn't understand what he meant until now.
"Okay, can we stop talking about the hot guys now?" Alec grumbled, purposely changing the subject. "And the vampires are locals. They're at the Hotel DuMort, down in Gansevoort Street."
"And we came back here? Why? We have to go there. Let's go, now. Come on," Clary instructed but they all stayed glued to their spot, neither making a move to leave.
"We need a Clave resolution for that. The four of us can't declare war on the vamps all by ourselves. And we can't react without considering our options. Downworlders are slaves to their impulses. We're not," Alec spoke patiently.
"I'd probably be highly offended if it wasn't for the fact that it was true," Jax said, grabbing Alec's attention as he almost forgot that Jax was a Downworlder as well. Alec sent the werewolf a small half smile in reply, as if to apologize for his comment.
Isabelle sighed as she slumped down on the seat across them. "Alec, you can't just jump on any Downworlder."
"Well I wouldn't really complain, to be honest," Jax muttered under his breath, purposely keeping his voice quiet but since Alec was standing right beside him-and from the faint blush on his face, Jax assumed he'd heard him.
"Oh, that's right. Seelies have their charms, apparently, right?"
"Seelies?" Clary questioned and Jace shrugged before answering. "Like faeries. The Fair Folk. Add pixies, nixies, elves.. anybody half angel, half demon. It's pretty much a catch-all term," Jace explained, ignoring the confused look on Clary's face as she heard all those unfamiliar names.
