Your POV:

I sigh while looking up at my house, instantly noticing that both my parents' cars are parked in the driveway. They must've gotten the call about me going to detention and rushed home early to scold me or at least find out what happened. I take in a deep breath and try my best to be brave when I pass the threshold. As I take off my shoes, mom and dad make an appearance with displeased looks on their faces. Their harsh gaze only lightens slightly upon seeing my expression, but they don't stand down.

"You've got a lot of explaining to do. What made you disrupt class so badly that you were sent to detention for it? I thought you knew better," dad says first in a stern voice that makes my heart clench. I've never heard him speak in that tone before, but that's because I rarely ever caused any trouble, at least, not to the extent where I'd be sent to detention over it. A part of me nearly broke down then and there, but I held my head up high and push back to tears threatening to cloud my eyes as I try to explain the situation to them.

"I don't understand what I did wrong. I just raised my hand to tell the teacher I didn't have a physics book, but, before I even got a word out, he gave me a detention. He came into class a mess, like someone that had overslept, and was clearly grouchy, but I guess it doesn't help either that he was scolding the two boys that were sitting next to me beforehand. I think I was just kinda caught in the crossfire." The two widen their eyes and instantly became furious, this time, however, their anger is directed at my physics teacher, Mr. Cletch. I feel relieved knowing that they believe me, though, I shouldn't have doubted in the first place. They know I wouldn't lie to them.

"I'm calling the school right now." Mom takes her cellphone out of her pocket and dials the school's number to have a word with the principal about my horrible teacher. She walks off, and, judging by the volume of her voice, the call ain't pretty. Dad, meanwhile, sighs and sends me an apologetic look.

"Sorry, sweetie. I just got worked up when I heard you got in trouble. I should've realized it was a misunderstanding the moment I got that phone call. Hopefully, everything will be okay after your mother's through with them." He laughs lightly and leads the way to the living room, where I sit with him on the sofa. "Well, other than that fiasco, how was school? Were you feeling better today?" I nod my head with a light smile on my lips as I think back to the two troublemakers I befriended.

"I made some friends. They're a little iffy, but seem like they mean well. They've been pretty nice to me."

"Oh? What's their names?"

"Ethan and Liam."

"Those kids that sat with you by the nurses office?" I nod once again.

"They helped me feel better after the incident with the physics teacher." Dad smiles, seeming happy that I made some friends.

"Just be careful, Y/N. Boys at this age can be difficult to handle. I should know, I was one." I can't help but laugh lightly, knowing he was a big nerd growing up and didn't cause much trouble, same as me. It's probably where I got it from.

"I will, I promise." I hear a loud sigh and look towards the doorway, where mom comes in and plops down on the armchair with a hand on her head.

"Hope you spared their lives there, tiger," dad jokes, causing the woman to crack a smile.
