Mr. Suttel,"Time for Chemistry."
...
Kori,"It's good to be back!"
Averi,"Uh huh."
Kori,"You missed me. I know you did."
Averi,"I was fine with you gone."
Kori,"Well at least we have our project done."
Averi,"You notice Kennidi didn't say anything to you today."
Kori,"Scared I'm going to beat her up again."
Averi,"You notice there was no adults when you fought."
Kori,"Oh yea. Kennidi used her 'many friends' to make sure they were all busy. So she could beat us up. Things didn't go as planned for her."
Averi,"Yea."
...
Kori,"AH!"
"Please don't scream Kori."
Kori,"Sorry Mr."
Farran,"I must say. I want to get suspended again. Schools sucks. You know how behind I am?"
Kori,"A lot. I was suspended too."
Farran,"I really don't want to do this stuff. Maybe I can talk my teachers into not having me do all the work."
Kori,"I know either way I have to complete it all as punishment for fighting like that."
Farran,"She deserved it though."
Kori,"I know."
Farran,"What are you doing Averi?"
Averi,"Taking notes. This is going to be on the test."
Farran,"Holy crap."
Kori,"Where's my paper?!"
...
Kori,"I wonder."
Farran,"What?"
Kori,"How this would taste if I mix it all together."
Farran,"Oh come on Kori. We're not in middle school anymore."
Kori,"What do you say Averi?"
Averi,"Don't forget to add your juice."
Kori,"Okay!"
Farran,"What?! Kori!"
I watch as Kori mixes all of her lunch together and then pours her juice on top.
It's a brown goop.
Kori,"Time to taste."
Farran,"I can't watch."
I watch as she picks up a spoonful and eats it.
Kori,"It's actually not bad."
Farran,"I hope you don't get sick."
Kori,"It's all going to be mixed up anyway. I mean it is all just going in my stomach in the end."
Averi,"True."
Farran,"Still gross."
Cameron,"Hi."
Averi,"Hi."
Farran,"Kori is disgusting."
Kori,"Cameron! You won't believe this but I missed you."
Cameron,"You're right, I don't. What did Kori do?"
Farran,"She mixed her whole lunch together."
Cameron,"Oh. Well."
Farran,"How do you people not know what the importance of how gross this is?!"
Kori,"We just don't think the same Farran."
Cameron,"So I heard you guys are presenting a project."
Kori,"You talk to Averi without me around?"
Cameron,"She sits at this table alone every lunch when you were gone."
Averi,"He even left me alone."
Kori,"You left my Averi alone!"
Cameron,"You're trying to kill me aren't you?"
Averi,"One down."
Cameron,"Averi!"
Kori,"So you come over to give her company and- oh Averi you are good."
Averi,"What?"
Kori,"I know what you just did."
Averi,"I don't know what you're talking about."
...
Miss,"Alright. Next up is Kori, Farran, and Averi. Are you ready or an F?"
Kori,"We're ready Miss."
Miss,"Alright. Let me pull up your video."
Miss turns on the video we made.
There's a few laughs and an applause at the end.
Miss,"Good job girls."
"Kori for President!"
Miss,"Okay settle down class. Next group is...."
~
Miss,"Okay. So let's have an election. Everyone take out a sheet of paper and rip it up were you vote for president. One person in each row take out a sheet. I'll write the names of the candidates on the board and you each vote. When you're done, place it on my desk."
We all vote.
The teacher counts up the votes.
Miss,"The president of 2020 will be."
Miss,"Kori Archard! Congratulations! You're group will receive extra credit."
Kori,"Aye!"
Farran,"Oh snap. We're a great campaign team!"
...
Kori,"Government class was a success."
Farran,"Yes it was."
Averi,"I still can't believe you won."
Kori,"Well you did organize everything. There's no way I would've lost with you."
Farran,"Yea."
Averi,"Thanks."
Kori,"No thank you. Now my grade is an A-!"
"No shouting Kori."
Kori,"Sorry."
...
Kori,"Is that who I think it is?"
Averi,"What?"
Kori,"Over there near the wall. By the door."
Averi,"That's Cameron."
Kori,"We have a class with Cameron?"
Averi,"Yea."
Kori,"Does he know?"
Averi,"Probably."
Kori,"I'm going to see if he looks this way."
Averi,"Okay."
Kori,"He's looking this way. He saw me."
I watch as Kori looks at me and covers her face with her hand.
Kori,"Now he knows I know we have a class together and then he's going to come over here and talk to you. This is not good. I wish I never looked."
Averi,"What if he just talks to you?"
Kori,"I don't want him to. Plus he likes you anyway."
Averi,"Huh?"
Kori,"I mean he always talks to you even when Farran and I are talking to you."
Averi,"Maybe he's just trying to get me to talk like everyone else."
Kori,"He danced with you at the dance."
Averi,"So did you."
Kori,"He got close to you."
Averi,"So did you."
Kori,"We're dating, that makes a difference."
Averi,"No we're not and that's harassment."
Kori,"What, no."
Averi,"I did not want that."
Kori,"I did."
Averi,"I didn't and you performed the action."
Kori,"I wasn't even that close."
Averi,"Yes you were Kori."
Kori,"That's only because-"
Cameron,"So we have the same class."
"Great job Cameron interrupting her sentence like that I was listening!"
Kori,"Stay out of my conversation!"
Teacher,"Class! Do I need to give out detention?!"
Class,"no."
Teacher,"Then do your work! Today is an easy day."
Cameron,"You want to finish what you were saying?"
Kori looks at me.
Kori,"No."
Cameron,"Well then. We have the same class together and you never told me."
Kori,"I just found out. I bet you stare at Averi everyday don't you."
Cameron,"No that's creepy."
Kori,"Perfect fit for you."
Cameron,"Why the insult?"
Kori,"You haven't spoken to Averi."
Cameron,"I was speaking to both of you."
Averi,"oh."
They both look at me and I put down my book.
Averi,"It appears that I've started an argument."
Cameron,"How are you Averi?"
Averi,"Good. You?"
Cameron,"I'm good."
Averi,"Okay."
Cameron,"Averi wants me to hang out with you all one day."
Averi,"What?"
Kori,"Averi asked that?"
Cameron,"Yes."
Averi,"No."
Cameron,"Remember at lunch I think. We were talking and you wanted me to come hang."
Kori,"Really?"
Averi,"You said that."
Kori,"Well if Averi asked. Then Wednesday, we have no school so we can go to the movies or something."
Cameron,"Did you not hear Averi talk this whole time?"
Kori,"No."
Cameron,"Huh. Well Averi was denying everything I said."
Kori,"Really?"
Averi,"Yes."
Kori,"We can still hang out. Actually no. I don't trust you."
Cameron,"What did I ever do?"
Kori,"Nothing, yet."
...
Malachi,"So how was school?"
Averi,"Good."
Malachi,"Okay. Well mom's due any day now."
Averi,"This I know."
Malachi,"Yea."
Averi,"Okay."
Malachi,"Well. I'll be in my room if you need me."
Averi,"You want me to tell you how the project went.''
Malachi,"That's why I asked about school. You're so difficult."
Averi,"I don't have to tell you."
Malachi,"Please. I need to know. I mean I helped. I was transportation."
Averi,"Yes you were."
Malachi,"So?"
Averi,"We have an A for the assignment, and Kori was voted president by the class which gave us extra credit."
Malachi,"Awesome. Good job."
Averi,"Thanks."
