CHAPTER 6:

Hold you to the floor.
I was only falling in love.

He almost laughs when he sees her re-emerge into their apartment, brushing some snow off of her shoulders and shaking out her long dark hair. It's at her rib cage now, but courtesy of extensions- he really likes it. There's more length of hair for his fingers to run through when she's stressed, leaning against his knees as he sits in an armchair with ramen noodles.

They have money, lots of it thanks to Veronica's trust fund and the money Archie made off of his first album. Her connections had hooked him up with a small but talented record label and he had worked night and day for eight months to produce 11 songs that he was proud of. But they still didn't like to spend too much, Veronica adjusting to smaller shopping trips and learning to love the wine from cute grocery stores on the Upper East Side.

She sets her purse by the door, walking the short distance to meet Archie where he was sitting on the counter. Leaning up, she presses a chaste kiss to his lips before noticing what's on the kitchen table from the corner of her eye.

"Babe," Veronica smiles, running over the petals of a giant bouquet of red roses with her thumb. "Flowers?"

The ginger shrugs, hopping down to come up behind his girl and press a kiss to her head. "Because it's Friday, and I love you." Archie explains, making her smile like a giddy teenager.

"I needed these today, thank you. After that dreadfully emotional lunch with Betty, I wanted to gauge my eyeballs out." Ronnie laughed, walking back into their room and changing from a collared dress into some leggings and her favorite of Archie's shirts.

"That bad huh?" he chuckles, watching her from the doorway as she takes out her pearl earrings. "How long do you give it?"

She pondered for a minute, slipping on a pair of fuzzy socks before following him into the living room and plopping into his lap on their couch. "Betty and Jughead never last long apart, they're both brooding and probably writing long journalistic articles about love."

He laughed at her joke, pulling her into him and placing another peck on her lips. "Hey, I wrote a lot of songs about you." he pouts, making her rub his cheek sweetly.

"And they were all beautiful, and I love them." she admits, smiling mindlessly at how his stubble has grown out a little bit. It's more mature, like how he actually fixes his hair these days, and she loves it. "Almost as much as I love you."

He all but pins her to the couch, hands slipping under his shirt- his, which drives him crazy- as he keeps their lips connected. She's just about to roll him over when they're rudely interrupted by a knock at the door, turning out to be the takeout dinner that Archie had ordered.

Veronica lights a candle and grabs their favorite blanket from the closet by Archie's studio, retreating back to the couch and sitting down. He rejoins her and stifles back a laugh, "Where were we?" he asks, and she simultaneously shakes her head no and blushes at the same time.

"I actually wanted to talk to you, yeah?" Ronnie sighs, as he sits on the couch near her.

"You're not breaking up with me, are you?" he laughs lightly, the light catching his honest eyes. They stare back into her deep and mysterious ones, the ones that capture Archie's entire heart. He laughs, but he really doesn't find his question funny in the slightest.

"No," she denies, really she isn't. "Of course not." Veronica knows it's obviously not that, but she wants to assure him that she will never let that happen.

Her hands are a little shaky as she grabs his, and his eyebrows push together in concern. Archie's thumb sweeps over the engagement ring on her finger and it makes her want to hide.
