When writing a On My Block fanfic you have to be careful when choosing the right face claim to fit your character and make sure it's realistic. What I mean by that is if you're writing a fanfic for Cesar or someone else in the crew you don't want to pick Naya Rivera to be your face claim. You have to remember that these kids are 14 to 15 years old. It's weird and kinda gross to pair them up with someone who looks like they can be 20 years old. So instead of Naya Rivera try someone who looks younger like Becky G. However if you are writing a fanfic for Spooky then it's okay to use an older looking face claim like Naya Rivera because Spooky is an adult.

Another thing to keep in mind when picking out a face claim is their ethnicity/race. On My Block is taken place in a city where the population is mostly black and latinx so it wouldn't make sense if you used an asian or white face claim. Try to stick to black, afro-latinx, and latinx face claims.

Also, when picking out a face claim for your character make sure that their ethnicity/race matches up. By that I mean don't give your Cuban character a Mexican face claim. The reason why you shouldn't do this is because it's wrong and disrespectful. It's basically saying that you think all latinx are the same which is pretty racist. Also don't give your poc character a white face claim. That's even worse.
