Sesshomaru walked down a path near the river by himself, reflecting on what had happened in the past few days – mainly the night before. Hana had fallen asleep on him, obviously still worn out from her past trials, and he hadn’t minded at all. He had simply left her there to sleep on his leg, eventually falling asleep himself.
He had looked at her for a while, stunned at first, but had then simply accepted the fact that she had been greatly tired. For the second time, he found himself looking at her as she slept, reminiscing on her telling him that she loved him. Yes, he cared for her, he had come to this conclusion before, but could he ever lover her back the way she claimed to love him? He himself had said that he detested the idea of love. But as Hana had said, could that change? Sesshomaru scolded himself for thinking in such a way - thinking about the girl in such a way - but he found that scolding was all he could do. He could not stop himself from having these thoughts. Thoughts of what it would be like if he could ever manage to love Hana back, if he could ever love her and, well, eventually have her become his mate, of course.
Would she ever give him a strong heir, or heirs? And would she not only be a good mother-figure to them, but to Rin also?
He supposed that she had already proved herself when it came to the latter.
Sesshomaru remembered what he had thought to himself on a previous night.
He never enjoyed seeing Hana hurt or in danger. He had somehow developed the need to always protect Hana, the girl whom he had found himself constantly saving. Did he also want to love her?
Sesshomaru soon became immersed in his thoughts, forgetting about his pride and whatever other things prevented him from being the affectionate type of person. As he had looked down at the sleeping wolf demon on his leg, these were Sesshomaru’s last thoughts before falling asleep himself.
As he was reflecting, Sesshomaru suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. He knew he had been nearing where he had left the group, but he could only pick up the scents of Jaken and Rin. Where had Hana gone off to?
As he grew nearer, Sesshomaru found that he was indeed right, and Hana was not there. He growled to himself.
Had that bothersome sorceress managed to get to the girl through some other way?
For a split second, Sesshomaru felt a touch of worry for Hana’s well being. He knew that in any other scenario, she would have been more than able to defend herself, just not when she was under someone else’s control.
“Lord Sesshomaru, I distinctly told that insolent wolf girl not to…” Jaken’s yelling became muffled as Sesshomaru stepped over him, walking over to Rin who was lying down and idly waving a blade of grass in the air. As she saw Sesshomaru approaching her, he could see her face light up.
“Lord Sesshomaru, you’ve returned!” she exclaimed, hopping off of Ah-Un’s back and running over to him.
“Rin, I see you’ve been well,” he said to her, and she nodded in reply. Jaken stood behind them with a melancholy look on his face.
“Where-,”
“Don’t worry, Lord Sesshomaru, Hana’s fine.” And at that, Rin explained to him where Hana had run off to. Though, after she had told him, he wasn’t quite sure whether it was right to not be slightly concerned still.
She’d gone trying to look for and reconcile things with that impudent male wolf yokai from her tribe. Maybe he shouldn’t have been so light on that demon – maybe he should have made sure he killed him.
Why did she still need him in her life? Did she really have feelings for the man who had tried to take her against her will…even after she had admitted to loving this Sesshomaru? He wouldn’t have it. Sesshomaru glowered at the idea of Hana even trying to talk to that demon again.
