That night Kendra and the others slept at a closer holy place. It was cold and they had to warm themselves by a fire. Nimen's horse was jittery and Chralane kept praying all night.
Enoch asked, "Why does he pray so fervently through the night?"
Chelnuk answered him, "He is trying to make sure that the giants don't know that we are here to kill them."
"But surely the evil spirits are everywhere?"
"So are the good angels, they will fight with us against the evil spirits."
After a cold night they all awoke to roasted lamb. Kendra had caught and cooked one for their breakfast.
"Can't you return the the Bosom and get us one of your wife's loaves?" inquired Nimen, whom was used to both Kendra disappearing and him getting food from his wife.
"We will make do with lamb, and we need to eat quickly so that we can ambush them in the village."
