TO BE FRANK, LORELAI Swan wasn't afraid of many things. For a while, she was afraid of dying, but then she actually died. Lorelai Swan didn't get scared anymore. However, that didn't mean she didn't get nervous anymore.
"You're nervous," Jasper noted as he walked beside her.
Lorelai shot her boyfriend a glance. "How did you...?" she started before remembering his gift. "Right." She shrugged. "I don't know. What if something goes wrong? Like, what if Victoria tries to slip past us right under my nose and something happens to Bella?"
Ever since the Cullens realized that Victoria was using Riley Biers, coercing him into doing her dirty work by treating him as her puppet, Lorelai had been more than tense. How could it have taken them this long to realize this?
Jasper shook his head. "That wouldn't happen," he assured her as they strolled throughout the forest together. "Not only will she be far away, but she'll have Seth and Edward by her side to protect her at that campsite, remember?"
Lorelai nodded, pressing her lips together. "What if someone gets hurt on the battlefield?" she wondered aloud. "I don't know what I'd do if something were to happen to you or Stella or Carlisle or—" She was interrupted by Jasper leaning down and picking up a rock. "What are you...?" She watched as he held the rock in front of his girlfriend's face. She giggled as she said, "Jazz, when a girl says she wants a big rock, she doesn't literally mean a big rock."
Jasper chuckled and shook his head. "I've never been able to remember where we first met, but I do know that it was somewhere in this forest," he explained. "This rock represents that, as well as every moment we've spent together since then."
Lorelai was silent, confused as to where he was going with this.
"Every single second I've spent with you, I'm constantly reminded of how strong you are. You're passionate, you have so much love for those around you, especially your father and your sister," he continued.
"And you," Lorelai shyly told him.
Jasper smiled at this. "And me," he added. "I've seen you go from your lowest to the incredible woman you are today. I know you, Rory. If there's something you can't do, it certainly isn't being strong and protecting the ones you care for."
Lorelai was quiet, absorbing his words. Then, a smile crept onto her face. "How are you so good at pep-talks?" she asked. "Seriously, that was pretty good." She leaned forward and kissed his lips. "By the way, I love you."
"I love you so much more."

i love rory and jasper's relationship so much. truly incredible. i'd die 4 them if they weren't already DEAD. it's fine :) they're so cute tho. like they just get each other yk! i love that shit! it's so cute n healthy vs. bella and edward sorry no shade.
highkey bella and rory's relationship makes me really happy. for awhile they were kinda those classic opposites at the beginning of the story. but they've grown together, overcoming eating disorders n bonding over the older sister dying <3 just girly things lmao. they've gotten so close n they just luv each other so much. i never want their relationship to die <3 <3
also did anyone think jasper was finna propose to rory back there bc i did (and i'm literally the writer of this book like i could've let it happen HAHA).
