"Crap crap crap, she's going to kill me".
Pressing re-dial I sat on the bed putting on my sneakers waiting for my mother to answer the call.
"Hi M- Yes I know I overslept. I'm so- Okay". Killing the call I stared at my feet.
"I'm sorry I just figured since you had a rough night I would let you sleep in. I completely forgot you had a sit in with your mother. I'm really sorry Em."
Heading to the dresser I stared at myself in the mirror hanging just above it. I cringed as I took in my appearance. Big heavy bags covered the underneath portion of my brown eyes. I tried my best to style my wavy brown hair but it was putting up a fight. A fight that I was losing. Giving up I exited my bedroom and went to use the bathroom and wash my teeth. Finishing up I opened the door and headed towards the kitchen with Rebecca behind my tail. I started looking for my keys and my satchel.
"Its okay don't worry. I understand". I smiled at her and went in for a hug.
"I love you Em, you know that right?" Pulling away I nodded and noticed the beanie in her hand. Thanking her for it I went to the door and turned back before I closed it looking at her.
" Love you too".

Getting off the bus I started walking towards the cafe I was supposed to meet my mother in. I wrapped my arms around myself feeling cold. It wasn't actually cold outside but it was a feeling I always got before meeting my mother. I did regret my choice of clothing though. My wardrobe choice would definitely be something she wouldn't approve of. Oh, wells whats done is done. Sighing as I approached Mickey's cafe all I wanted to do was turn around and run. My parents weren't the greatest of parents. I'm sure rats were better parents to their young then mines were. Mickey's was a fancy cafe, with outside seating arrangements and outstanding customer service. My parents didn't do anything but the best. Rolling my eyes and taking a deep breathe I opened the door and walked in. The smell of coffee hit my nose making me smile. Mmm coffee.
I walked up to the hostess shifting my bag strap since it was sliding off. The hostess smiled way to hard and she wore too much makeup. She looked like a clown.
"Hello and welcome to Mickey's party for one?" I swear could she say that any louder? She looked me up and down as if I was in the wrong place. What a snob. I grinned at her.
"No, I'm actually here to meet my parents. The reservation should be under the names Mr & Mrs. Rose".
I blinked rapidly and innocently at the hostess and smiled. Her fake smile instantly faltered and she turned quite pale. Anyone who's anyone knew who my parents were, and my parents were not only dear customers of Mickey's cafe but very close friends with the owner. So if I was to complain about not liking something or someone it would get taken care of stat. I started to feel a little bad for my reaction to her but she seriously rubbed me the wrong way.
Regaining her composure she looked at the book that was resting on her podium and nodded her head.
"Of course, here I see it. Emily?" I nodded. "Follow me please".
She stepped aside from the stand and I walked behind her. I loved Mickey's cafe. The interior was cozy and beautiful. It was breathtaking. I loved how the chandeliers hung from the ceiling. It made the place seem kind of magical in a way. As we came upon the booth my mother was in I turned around to thank the hostess but noticed she had already scurried away. I shrugged. Sliding into the booth I gave my mother a smile but that quickly faded away.
"Do you have any idea how long I've been sitting here? It's very rude to have someone waiting. People have lives Emily and now I'm going to be late to work because you decided to be irresponsible and oversleep. You should be ashamed."
