"Pix?" Jade asked as soon as they got into the car.

"Woah, I'm glad that went okay, right?" Pixie spoke up from the other end.

"I couldn't have done it without you, Pixie," Jade said. "Thank you for this."

"Hey, it's no big deal," Pixie giggled from the other end. "Besides, I think you were handling it pretty well on your own."

Tyler turned the car onto the main road, and Jade glanced at him as he took out his earpiece and placed it onto the dash board.

"But the stuff he asked me," Jade said to Pixie. "I wouldn't even be able to keep up without your help."

"Well, in that case, I'm glad I was able to help," Pixie said and Jade smiled. "You'll call me soon, right?"

"Of course, I will, Pix," Jade promised, before Pixie said goodbye and hung up.

Jade removed her earpiece, and turned towards Tyler. She opened her mouth to speak, but they were already at their building. Tyler took the car into the parking lot and killed the engine. He got out and Jade followed. She held her tongue, waiting till they got to the suite before they could talk.

*

Tyler entered the suite and began to head towards his room, but Jade called after him.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Tyler turned around a little to look questioningly at Jade, who stood with her arms folded, staring at him.

"Tell you what?" Tyler asked ineffectually.

"That you and Lukas know each other," Jade glared.

"You never asked," Tyler shrugged, turning to face Jade.

"What?" Jade threw her hands up in exasperation. "How the hell was I supposed to ask you something like that?"

Tyler exhaled through his nose and was about to turn away when Jade perked up again.

"When you know him, why do you even need me?" she folded her arms angrily. "You seem intimate enough with him."

"I need someone who can get even more intimate," Tyler said meaningfully, cocking an eyebrow. "Someone he won't just trust with his work, but also with himself."

"Oh, so, did I meet your expectations?" Jade glared.

"You weren't bad for a first meeting," he said coldly and Jade fumed. "But I'm expecting a little more progress next time."

"What the hell -"

"Don't start with me, I'm so over your drama," Tyler started to walk off again.

"Don't act like you're the one in trouble here," Jade walked up to him, grimacing. "I'm the one risking my life for you."

"No, no, not for me," Tyler corrected. "You're doing it for yourself. And your precious son, of course."

"You bastard -"

"Get some rest," Tyler said calmly, entering his room. "I could use some time away from you too."

Tyler closed the door behind him, and Jade stared at the door, scowling in anger. She stomped angrily on the ground, feeling more helpless than ever.

*

Tyler came out of his room the next morning to find Jade in her slacks, all washed up and watching a movie on his laptop. Headphones stuffed into her ears, Jade didn't notice Tyler come towards her, not that it would matter much to her anyway.
