July 20- Spelmen, Atlanta Georgia
Kairen stares absentmindedly at the road ahead of her as she waited for the light to change. She just got into the state of Georgia. Now she has to travel to Atlanta to register for college and then head to her apartment a block away from her college.
After the whole ordeal with her sister dying Kairen was broken. She didn't eat for weeks. The only time she came out of her room was when she had to go to school. Her depression put her in a deep depression she still is overcoming. She had no friends to confine in. Her family was taking Zanara's death pretty hard also. Her father took time off of work for a while. Her mother took a leave of absence, until she as ready. Blue, she went ahead and went to college. She left her family when they were grieving.
As for Daystar, his grandmother on his father side took him. She moved to Georgia and kept Daystar away from the Lanier family. Kairen's mom could've fought to take her grandson, but she said that he was a reminder of Zanara and she didn't want that. Kairen was to young to take care of him, so the state handed him over to Nasir's mom.
Since, today was Kairen's eighteen birthday, she would spend her whole day getting ready for college, then relaxing.
Kairen snapped out of her daydream when horns started to blow at her. She pressed the gas and continued on the road. As she drove, J.Cole's wet dreamz started playing. It made her think back to the times guys would ask her out, but will diss her after they found out that she had a speech impediment. It was really heartbreaking, but as she got older she realized that people's opinions didn't matter.
Kairen tapped her fingers along the steering wheelas she nodded her head to the song. She appreciated J. Cole. He spoke truth and expressed his feelings. J spoke about how he felt about the public and his past. He did things most niggas don't do.
Kairen pulled into Spelmen college student parking lot and got out. She grabbed her phone and a vanilla folder with important documents she needed along with money for her books and other fees. She walked through the fields of people asking others to join clubs or help raise money for causes. She walked up to the table that had 'registration' on it.
