Lester woke suddenly in the dead of night as sirens whizzes passed the crappy motel. No matter how deeply he slept the sirens always jarred him out of it. He couldn't help but be afraid they were coming for him every time. He'd done everything he could think of to stay off the radar. Paid in cash.Checked in under a fake name. Everything you see in the movies. He had the money to keep it up for a good couple months if necessary, but he needed to find an out sooner than later. Unfortunately he didn't have a clue where to begin. For now though he needed to sleep. He rolled over and tried to clear his thoughts.

The next morning the awoke stiff and groggy. What little sleep he had gotten was restless and interrupted. He pulled some clothes out of his suitcase and took them into the bathroom where he took a good long shower. Once dressed and clean he packed up his dirty clothes and exited to the streets headed for the nearby laundromat. On the way he stopped at a liquor store to buy some breakfast burritos.

This early in the morning the laundromat remained largely empty. An old woman talking to herself would be his only company for the time being. Not that he minded the relative quiet. After pondering it for a while he pulled out his phone and popped open the back. He'd removed the battery to ensure his phone couldn't be tracked via the GPS. At least that's what they did in the movies. After he replaced the battery and put the case back together he placed a call to Robert Ramos. Once he got passed the secretary he intended to explain his situation and get advice.

"Robert I've got a situation I could use some help with." He explained the whole situation, starting from the beginning with Lars' embezzling all the way through his current living arrangements in as much detail as he could then asked, "What do you think?"

"That's quite the mess you've gotten yourself mixed up in Lester. I'm not even sure where to begin honestly." Robert sighed heavily. "I'll tell you what, I'm friends with the district attorney, let me give him a call and see what he thinks. Maybe we can get you into protective custody or something."

"I've been keeping the battery out of my phone so they can't track me. Let me give you the number for my hotel room. I should b back there by noon."

Lester hung up the phone and once more pulled the battery before placing it back in his pocket. He then turned his attention to the burritos. By the time his laundry finished he had fallen asleep against the dryer. The buzzer sounded and scared the shit out of him. He gathered up his things and made his way back to the motel stopping at the liquor store once more for lunch. He arrived at his room a little later than he planned but the message light on the phone remained unlit so h was confident he had not missed the return call from his lawyer.

He took a seat at the small table and polished off his lunch all the while trying to tune out the headboard banging against the opposite side of the wall. After he finished eating he lie down on the bed and turned on the TV. He flipped through the channels he landed on Deathwatch. A guilty pleasure of sorts. He knew how bad it was but he couldn't help but laugh at the clearly manufactured drama among the crew. Some time during the second half of the show h passed out once more.

Late in the afternoon the phone rang pulling him out of a particularly erotic dream. For a second he wondered where he was until the banging of the headboard against the wall of the room next door jogged his memory. He reached out blindly knocking the receiver off the base before picking it up and answering.

"Lester it's Robert. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. The DA was occupied most of the day. I just got off the phone with him."

"What's the word?"

"He wants to bring you in so they can start a new investigation with your testimony."

"Just tell me where and when." Lester replied.
