Even a Doctor Needs a Doctor

Start from the beginning

"Win has the stomach flu. Dr. Beam may be coming in with his husband and son as well. We think the kids got it at this thing they went to yesterday."

"I'll call Dr. Sing." She paged Sing who came rushing in. "Dr. I felt it was best to call you. Baby Win has a case of the stomach flu."

Sing looked at Win and Pha handed him over. They both went back into the ER.

"Scrub down and change."

"I know." Pha did what he had to do then went to meet Sing. He was disposing of another filled diaper and looked at Pha when he came over.

"I packed to stay."

"I'll have to put him on drips. Win hates to eat when he's sick right? I remember that."

"Yeah. He_" Win brought up a dribble of stuff and Pha moved quickly to wipe him up. Sing called in the nurse and had him officially admitted.

"Once he's improving, I'll turn him over to pediatrics. How much sleep did you have?"

"A couple of hours." Sing knew the beds were limited but he grabbed one for Pha and put it next to Win. "Have this one until we need it. It's been a moderate day. You may get to keep it. I'll check you two by the hour."

Pha nodded and lay down, reaching for his son's hand.

News spread quickly and the first nurse to check on them didn't hesitate to take a picture of Win's chubby hand holding on to Pha's fingers. He suddenly started moaning and Pha jolted awake. The nurse moved to check on Win at the same time and he dropped her another prize. She waved Pha away and deftly dealt with it. SIng came in just as she was noting it on Win's chart and took his temperature. He handed Pha a sippy cup of coconut water.

"All the things he needs is in here. Get him to drink as much as you can. Force it in him somehow because he needs it."

Pha shook his head and sighed. Then he had an idea. "Do we have those heating pads or those old hot water bottles? If his stomach feels warm, he might drink it. He was seeking warmth earlier."

"I'll get that," The nurse said and hurried out. She came back a few minutes later with a small warming pad and set it up so Pah could use it. Win squirmed a bit then settled. His little face stopped scrunching up and he sighed a bit. Pha slipped him the bottle and without thinking, he drank a good bit of it. Pha got him to burp without bringing up much and they all smiled.

"Ok. Let's see what happens." Sing said and went to see his other patients. The nurse left too, then sent the picture to the group chat. They were all sighing about it in no time.

Yo came in around the same time as Beam with Forth and Sky. The nurses immediately directed both men into the room Pha was in with Win. Pha was just changing another diaper when Yo came in.

"The rest of the group said they were fine," Beam informed as they helped Forth into a bed.

"Great. I hope it stays that way." Yo said before he kissed Pha's cheek and checked on Win. Dr. Narine from pediatrics came in with Sing this time and checked on the kids.

"Great job Beam and Pha." He said after reading the charts and observing their vitals and temperature. He made new notes and pulled out bottles of pedialyte. "This is for the kids. Try this or you can keep using the coconut water. Whichever they prefer." He looked over at Forth and smiled. "For the big guy, soup and coconut water for sure. Natural cures are always good."

The door opened and Kit came in. Narine greeted him immediately.

"Hi. I had a free minute so I came rushing down to check on everyone."
