We got back to the apartment by seven, and Max immediately went to the kitchen.

"What's for dinner?" he asked.

"Grilled cheese?" I offered.

"Yeah," he said, sitting on the couch.

Dominic tried to tickle my sides, but I struggled out of his reach.

"I have to make dinner," I said, giggling.

"Good luck getting to the fridge," he said, dramatically posing in front of the refridgerator.

I walked towards him, but he started tickling me again.

"Dominic, stop," I laughed.

"How come?" he asked, trapping me in the corner.

Dominic put his hands on the cabinets behind my head. I slapped his arm.

"Max'll see," I said, walking towards the fridge.

"Party pooper," he said.

I rolled my eyes, taking out cheese and butter.

"You know you love me," I teased.

"Close enough," he said. "You know YOU love ME."

"Close enough," I intimidated his voice.

"Touche," he said, squinting his eyes, and sliding over towards me.

"Don't even try it," I said, grinning. "It's too big a challenge."

"I like challenges," he said, ducking his head down to steal a kiss.

It lasted longer than it should have.

"OW!" he yelled, jumping to the side.

"What?" I asked.

He was pulling off his shirt.

"Whoa, no, keep it PG buddy," I said.

Then I saw the small flame burning the material.

"You have a gas stove?!" he yelled, turning on the faucet.

He quickly ran to my room and came out pulling on a white t-shirt.

"Sorry!" I said, turning the stove off.

The flame quickly went out on his shirt, and I fell to the floor laughing.

"WHAT is so funny?" he demanded.

"This is so your fault," I choked out.

"My shirt just set on fire," he said.

"You just had a Michael Kelso moment from That 70s Show," I said, leaning against the cabinets on the floor.

"Yeah, and now I'm gonna have a Red Forman moment," he said, putting his fist up with a fake intimidating look.

I stood up and walked over to him, putting my arms around his neck and pulling him down to me.

"You two are crazy," Max said. "And no kissing! You'll get coodies."

"What about Julia Burnstein?" I asked.

"I don't want to KISS her. I just want us to get married," he said.

I kissed Dominic on the cheek turning around and going back to the sandwiches.

"You know when you get married, you have to kiss the person, right?" Dominic asked.

"That's the only time you have to, though," Max said.

I laughed as I turned the stove back on and spead the butter.

"You mean you NEVER want to kiss any girl?" Dominic asked.

"Well, no," he said, attempting to sound sophisticated. "But maybe I would make a small exception for Julia Burnstein."

"Max, have I told you today that I love you? Because you're awesome," I said, laughing.

"Yeah, I know, right?" Dominic agreed. "He's like the funniest five year old ever."

"I'm serious though!" he said, yawning. "I don't want coodies."

I put the first sandwich on the pan, grabbing a spaula.

"Oh, like these kind of coodies?" Dominic asked, spinning me around and pressing his lips lightly against mine.

"EW!" Max said loudly.

"Dominic, go throw your shirt away. It smells like smoke," I said.

"Well, that's probably because it was on FIRE," he reasoned.

"Just throw it away," I said.

I flipped the sandwich, and pressed down making it sizzle.

"Max, your dinner's almost ready," I said. "Come grab a plate."

We all ate our dinner quietly, and Max was so tired, he went to bed within fifteen minutes of clearing his plate.

"So," Dominic said in a fake seductive voice. "We're all alone."

"And cleaning," I said, holding up the soapy plate I was scrubbing.

"Fine, you wash, I dry," he said, grabbing a towel.

"Sorry, I don't have dishwasher," I said, handing him the dish.

"It's fine," he said. "It's more fun this way."

"Oh goody, I'm glad your having fun cleaning dishes," I said.

I started scrubbing the next plate, trying to get the cheese off.

"No, that's not it," he said.

"Then what is?" I asked.

"Get ready for the cheesy line," he said. "But this way I get to spend more time with you."

I gazed into his eyes for a second before turning back to the plate.

"Yeah, your right, that was cheesy," I said.

"Shot DOWN!" he said, a smile in his voice.

I looked back at him, looking back at the deep brown eyes.

"Aw, screw it," I said, the plate clanking in the sink.

I wrapped my arms hastily around his neck, kissing him. He pulled me closer to him with his hands pressed against my lower back.

"It WAS cheesy, but sweet," I said.

He thankfully shut me up and kissed me again.

I should have known that the happy times with Dominic was limited to Max's life.
