"I love you Jonah and that's why I have to go" I scribbled down on the paper in front of me. I folded it shoving it under his pillow and leaving before he back from the studio. His career was just beginning and I couldn't stand in the way of it. I made my way out of his apartment thinking of last nights events. One last perfect night.
—6 years later—
"C'mon y/d/n" I said walking while holding her hands down the shops in the mall. "Y/n?" I heard someone call my name. "Y/n is that you?" "No it's not dude don't embarrass yourself" I heard two very familiar voices. "It is! She has the tattoo!" I turned around picking up y/d/n in the process trying find the people the voices belonged to. "IT IS!" Suddenly two guys around my age cane charging at me. They stood in front of me with smiles on their faces. They looked at y/d/n in confusion. "Zach? Corbyn? Is that you guys" I asked a smile forming on my face. "The one and only" Zach said making me chuckle. "What are you doing here?" "Well it is the mall y/n" "I know but I saw online. I thought you guys were on tour. "We were it actually just ended so we're taking a small break" "We came back to Stillwater to stay with Jonah and his family. We already stayed with everyone else for a while Jonah's was the last stop before we go back to LA. You do remember Jonah right?" "Oh Jonah yeah" I said my smile fading. "Why'd you leave y/n?" "I-I" "He was heartbroken for over a year. He still talks about you" "He does?" "All the time" "Is she his? Is that why?" Corbyn said reaching for y/d/n's band she was holding out to him. "No" "He has one too ya know" "A kid?" "Yeah. It was after a one night stand she left the baby with him after she gave birth. We haven't seen her since then. Frankly we were all relieved when she was gone but don't tell him we told you that" "Don't tell him. Is he here?" I asked in panic. "Yeah" they nodded. "I've gotta go guys it was really nice seeing you. We should us catch up soon or whatever." I said looking for the nearest exit. "No y/n wait!" They rushed over to me. "Please don't go. Don't tell me you don't wanna see him after all these years" "No I don't guys. I can't. Not after what I did to him. He'll probably never forgiv-" "Y/n?" I heard his voice behind me. I looked over at Zach to see him smiling sheepishly at me holding his phone up. "FUCK YOU!" I mouthed to him before turning around making eye contact with the last person I thought I'd ever see. "Jonah" I breathed out a breath I didn't know I was holding in. He looked taller, his face matured a bit more and his body structure was different he had clearly been working out..... a lot. He carried a child in his arms like I did in mine he looked a little older than y/d/n but around the same age. "What are you doing here?" He asked. "I um I came to get some clothing for y/d/n here" I said holding up the two bags from Carter's. "Y/d/n?" "My daughter" "Oh um this is James" he said holding signaling towards the baby in his arms. "My son" "This is gonna be a long day" I heard Corbyn mumble from behind me.
—1 week later—
"No way I totally won that!" I yelled at Jonah as we played the video game in front of us. "Jack who won? By the way did I ever tell you your voice is amazing" I said causing him to laugh. "I've been told y/n but I'm gonna have to give that one to Jonah" "But he cheated!" "Did not!" Did so!" We argued. "I did not!" He said as he began to tickle me to the ground. "Jonah!! Jo-Jonah please!!" I screeched in laughter. "Not till you admit I won fair and square" "B-But you didn't" "Then I guess I won't stop" "Okay! Okay you won fair and square!" I laughed out. He only began chuckling in victory. It gave me time to realize what position we were in. I was on the ground while he hovered above me one of his arms holding him up and the other on my stomach. Our faces were only inches away. I noticed him begin to lean in when I heard crying. "Y/d/n" I mumbled slightly up trying to get out of the situation as soon as possible. "Um I should go check on her" I said walking out of the room. "I'll come with you" Jack said standing up and walking behind me into James baby room where the two babies were previously sleeping. "Okay what was that?" Jack asked as I picked up y/d/n from the crib noticing James was stirring in his sleep. "What?" "Don't what me. You and Jonah were gonna kiss" "We were not. We were just joking around" "Well you guys have been joking around a lot this past week then" "Jack were just trying to catch up as friends do. I've joked around with Daniel, Zach, Corbyn, you" "Yeah But not like that. Do you like him?" Jack asked getting exited. "I don't know" "You like him" "What I never said that" "You never denied it either. I think this would be great for you guys. You have your kids and both need someone to lean on and support. He could be your support y/n" "We can support on each other as friends plus Jack I can't think about this right now my main focus is y/d/n and my job. I don't think bringing Jonah back in my life like that would be a good idea" "Why isn't it a good idea give me one reason why. Cause your 24 and he's 26 and eventually you guys will settle down why don't you do it together" "It's not that simple Jack what if he doesn't even like me like that" "Jonah not like you like that please This last week your all he's been talking about" "Really?" I asked smiling. "Yeah He told us he thinks his feelings are resurfacing. But you didn't hear it from me" Jack said turning to head to the door. "It's your choice y/n I'm not gonna push you but you should know Jonah's there for you. Maybe you should be there for him too" I only nodded thinking about it. He opened the door when crying came from the crib. "Oh shit" I mumbled putting y/d/n down in the crib handing her a toy. I quickly picked James up rocking him back and forth trying to calm him down. "Oh let me" Jonah said walking in and towards me when suddenly y/d/n began to cry as well. "I've got her" He said taking her out of the crib repeating my actions. I rubbed James stomach remembering that sometimes that's all y/d/n needs. "Try it. It works" I told him signaling towards my daughter. Not too long after the two babies were in our arms asleep once more. "She has your smile. Your dimples" Jonah smiling and looking at the little girl in his arms. "He has your nose and your eyes" "I know we haven't talked about it but I haven't seen a ring. Her dad where is he?" I looked at him taking a deep breath. "He's dead. He died doing what he loved a firefighter" "Oh I'm sorry I asked" panic took over his face. "It's fine Jonah. I can't really say I loved him actually I didn't know him that well we only went out for a couple of months. I found out I was pregnant about 3 weeks of seeing him. He was really supportive. It just sucks he never got to see the beautiful baby we created though" I said looking at y/d/n. "What about his mom?" I asked even though I knew I wasn't gonna blurt it out. "She was a one night stand. Left right after giving birth haven't seen her since. Kind of a relief actually she was really annoying" he said making me chuckle. "Why'd you leave?" He asked going serious. I was quick to put James back in the crib as he did the same with y/d/n. "Jonah what you have to understand about me leaving was-" "Was what y/n. It hurt coming home to my girlfriend not seeing any of her stuff there. Reading a note I found under my pillow saying she was leaving me. I stayed up for days, months after that trying to figure out why you had left. Where I went wrong within those 4 years that we had been going out." "Jonah you did nothing wrong you were perfect" I said a couple tears slipping out. "Then what went wrong?" "You were leaving for tour. Your career was just taking off. I couldn't stand in the way of that. I was just afraid one day you were gonna find someone skinnier, prettier than me and I couldn't put myself through that pain" The whole time I spoke I looked at him in the eyes. His were as glossy as mine. "You should have told me how you felt. I wouldn't have even thought twice about staying" "That's the thing Jonah I'm glad I left because you did go on tour and you've been living out the life you've always deserved. With everything you'll ever want and need" "Not everything" He said before walking straight up to me and pulling me in for a passionate kiss. The best one I've had by far. His lips kissed mine with hunger and passion as his hands held onto my waist. My arms were quick to wrap themselves around his neck pulling him closer. I pulled away feeling the need of oxygen. Our pants filled the room as we looked into each other's eyes. "I've missed you" he said putting his head into crook of my neck. "I missed you too Jonah" I said hugging him. "Are you back together then? Can we come in yet!?" We heard someone yelled from outside the room. "Are we back together?" I whispered so no one would hear. "Yeah are you okay with that?" He said holding my hands into his playing with my fingers. "More than okay Jonah" Suddenly the door bursted open and all the boys filed in. "We were just passing by and couldn't help but overhear. So are you?" Jack asked as all the boys had exited faces plastered on them. "Yeah" I smiled looking up at him to see him already looking at me. "You owe me 20" Jack said sticking his hand out. Daniel quickly placed the money in his hand with a sheepish smile. "I think this deserves a celebration!" Zach called out. "Let go eat!" We all nodded along to the idea. That day me and Jonah walked hand and hand down city walk with our children on our hips. And of course the boys in the back.
