This was not the way she wanted to be discovered.
When neither Evie nor Lydia had returned almost an hour later, worry swept over Izzy. She knew Evie was a strong girl who could protect herself, however this task was one which should not have taken much more than a quarter of an hour to complete. This worry intensified when the head of the Clave came in search for the pair stating that they had never come to her with the cup, like promised. She rushed towards her brother and mother in a desperate attempt to get someone to come and check on their whereabouts with her. When both agreed to come, along with Magnus who vowed he could offer immediate protection or help if it was necessary, they headed in the direction the two girls had left down only an hour previously. The walk was eerily quiet no one prepared to say anything in case something bad had happened, pure concern for the ginger girl was in most of their minds. All four could admit to caring for the girl, Izzy having to admit that she cared for her the most out of the four and that her heart was breaking at the thought that something terrible had happened and she could not just shake this feeling away.
The first place they had checked was the weapons room, just in case there was a small chance that the two had gotten caught up in the room and not noticed they had been gone for an hour. This was not a success as there was no sign of the missing woman, therefore they could at least agree to the fact that the two woman had made it out of the weapons room and had made it to Lydia's office unless something happened on the way. Each member of the search, and could be assumed rescue, party became on edge as they got closer to Lydia's office. There was something wrong about the atmosphere of the hallway, never before had it felt so dark and depressing. This screamed trouble in Izzy's mind and she nearly rushed towards the room to see the girl. However, the shadow hunter in the girl knew not to rush ahead on her own, yet when she entered the room she wished she had gone in five minutes earlier rather than taking slightly longer to approach the room.
A sob left her mouth as she saw the sense in front of her. Lydia was slouched over a wall at the bottom of the room, yet the worst sight was not this. For in the middle of the room lay Evie, a crimson puddle forming around her as a seraph blade protruded from her chest. The young girl was unresponsive to voice at least at first. When approaching her, Izzy knelt down not caring that she was in the puddle of blood, her shaking fingers moved towards Evie's neck searching for a pulse. As she waited for any signs that she was still alive tears began to fall from Izzy's eyes.
"No. No, baby no." Izzy cried as she struggled to find a pulse, her tears were heavy. Her fingers still held to Evie's neck as she prayed that something would happen. She didn't know if the shaking of her hands was preventing her from feeling anything, therefore when Magnus knelt down on the other side and checked she went to altering the way Evie's hair fell on the floor.
A sigh was released from Magnus's mouth as he felt a small pulse. It was weak and irregular in pattern but alas it was still there. There was still a very small chance that Evie could pull through despite the critical condition she was currently in. The puddle of blood had only gotten larger since they arrived as it continued to seep from her chest wound. Though this was a concern, a pretty big one nethertheless, it was not as concerning as the blue sword which stuck up from her chest almost directly over her right lung. Magnus knew the chances of her recovery were bleak and very low, he had never seen anyone mortal or not survive from injuries such as this. Though he was not prepared to share this with any of the people currently in the room.
It took a massive amount of effort to move Evie to the infirmary as they gathered additional help from outside. One shadowhunter, whose name at the moment in time Izzy had not bothered to recall, had carried Lydia out as four more appeared with a stretcher to place Evie upon. She watched as they carried Evie towards the infirmary as Magnus hung close attempting to do anything to remove any pain that the young girl was in. Just in case she could still feel pain in this moment. Izzy was unaware of the fact that it was highly unlikely that the young girl was not going to wake up. She rushed after the stretcher as they headed towards the infirmary, Alec had her hand in his as they both headed off with their mother trailing shortly behind them.
Doctor's flocked to Evie's bedside, shutting her away from everyone else and not permitting access to anyone who was not family whilst they worked. Izzy was gathered in Alec's arms as they both cried over the condition of their friend. Izzy cried over the potential loss of her almost lover, Alec crying over the condition of his best friend, the person who had helped make him so happy just over an hour ago. The two remained seated in the same position for what felt like a lifetime. Waiting to hear any news over Evie's condition, two hours must have passed before they got the first word from one of the doctors over her condition.
"I'm sorry but Evangeline Fairchild is in a critical condition." That was before alarms flared out around the room. The doctor rushed back inside as equipment and machines were run into the room where Evie was located. The doctors were in there for no more than 10 minutes before the same doctor from beforehand walked out and rubbed his eyes before turning to the two who had not moved a fraction.
"I'm sorry but we've called it Evangeline Fairchild has passed away."
