I sit on the bed, with my legs crossed in front of me, in my bedroom as I wait for him to come back with popcorn. We skipped school today since my parents aren't gonna come home till tomorrow.
I grab my laptop and login to Netflix. I get my phone and reply to my texts that I not so subtly ignored. He walks in, a grin on his face, and a bowl of popcorn in his hands. "I got them," he says as he places them beside me on the bed and crawls under the covers next to me. "What're we watching?"
"I don't know," I mumble, scrolling through a list of movies. "Can we watch The Book Thief?"
He raises an eyebrow, "the last time we watched it, you cried your eyes out." He stretches his arm out to get a handful of popcorn, but I stop him with a glare, knowing he'd eat them all before the movie even starts and then he'd send me to get more. "Okay, okay, lets just watch that movie. But first, let me get a box of tissues," he jokes. His brown eyes sparkling with humor.
I smile and put the movie on. I press play and stretch my legs out in front of me, move closer to him and place the laptop in between us. I lean into his neck as we watch the movie. He kisses the top of my head as the movie plays.
I watch twenty minutes of the movie until I get distracted and stare at him; study his profile. I watch him as he pays full attention to the movie. His eyebrows slightly furrow as he concentrates. His long and thick eyelashes flutter every second, making me envy him and his eyelashes. My gaze moves further down and I observe the freckles covering his nose and cheeks. He turns his head at me with a small smile playing on his face. "You're staring, Rosalyn."
"What can I say? My boyfriend is a work of art," I say lightheartedly. I'm not even startled because in the weeks we've been dating, he always caught me staring.
I used to get flustered and he used to tease me. Then we'd both laugh and I'd feel at ease with him.
He smirks, "well, what can I say?" He mimics my tone. "I was blessed with a pretty face."
I roll my eyes, "clearly, but God forgot to give you a pretty personality."
"I am a pretty face and a pretty personality, you're just jealous, Rosie," he teases.
"Don't call me that!" I turn red. "I hate that name," I say, making him laugh cause he knows how red I get from embarrassment when someone calls me 'Rosie'.
It doesn't have a story behind it, I just hate that name on me.
"Can we just continue with the movie now?" I huff.
"You're too cute," he says ruffling my hair, making me want to punch his nose like I did to the first guy I liked. That's a long story.
When we finish watching the movie, I'm bawling my eyes out and he's snickering.
What a good way to comfort someone, right?
"I told you you were gonna cry," he laughs as he pulls me closer to him to hug me.
"They didn't deserve it," I whimper.
"No one deserves bad things," he says, calming down.
"Some people do, though." I sniff and wipe my nose with a tissue. "People who are bad."
"There's no bad people in this world, Rose," he says. "They're just... on the wrong path and lost in life..."
"Sometimes you speak like an adult even though you're seventeen," I say, changing the subject.
He smiles, "and you can act like a toddler even though you're sixteen." I'm not even offended because we insult each other all the time. I'm used to it. "Look, the tears stopped. Jeez," he says with humor. "I was expecting a waterfall."
"Shut up," I mumble, not in the mood for his amusement after taking a look at the empty bowl of popcorn that he finished.
"Whoa, did the movie really affect you?" He asks, faking shock. Then he becomes serious, "what's wrong?"
I look up at him seriously and say, "you ate all the popcorn, that's a big deal."
He stares at me. "Are you serious?"
I laugh, "look who's laughing now,"
He rolls his eyes playfully, puts the laptop aside, and tackles me, "let me sleep."
"Okay," I say as I play with his dark hair. "But you just woke up a few hours ago."
"Who cares?" He says. "You can sleep anytime."
"I'll keep that in mind, Cameron," I laugh.
But that was only the beginning of what Cameron and I had.
It was a shame that we had to split.
And we were definitely not on good terms when we broke up.
There was way too much screaming, yelling and glass shattering.
I wonder if he's okay now.
I wonder if he has someone to look after him now.
I sigh and lay on my side and sink deeper into the covers. I need to sleep so I can go to school tomorrow.
I can't miss a day again.
I don't want to miss a day again.
But Cameron is on my mind; keeping me awake.
So if I don't wake up in the morning, I blame him.
A/N: sooo there's gonna be a few more flashbacks from when Rose and Cameron were together.
You're gonna learn what happened in the past eventually :)
Also, I know the chapter's short, so I'm gonna update again in a few hours🙃
