"You let him get away, Cooper."
"I really don't need you talking in my ear, Hunter. I know what I'm doing."
"For some reason, I doubt that."
I pushed through the crowded street, my eyes darting around to find my target.
"Does anyone have eyes on him?" I began to slow down until I was standing in the middle of the sidewalk. I turned in a full circle, searching my surroundings.
"Good job, Cooper."
"Shut it, Hunter." Bobbi told him. "I've lost him too, Cooper. I think—,"
Something suddenly slammed into my back, throwing me into the street. I hit the pavement and rolled a little but stopped myself with my hands. Doing so caused my palms to get scratched up. A car horn blared in my ear, causing me to look up. I lifted my head up and saw a large truck coming towards me.
I scrambled to get to my feet and run across the street. Just as my feet touched the sidewalk, I was pushed by an unknown force into a brick wall, subsequently cracking my temple on the hard material.
I moved out of the way just as the target, a HYDRA agent, tried to lodge a knife into my back. I turned and ducked another swipe of his knife. I landed a solid punch to his nose and then grabbed the wrist that held the knife. He was strong and almost overpowered me. I kicked the inside of his thigh and then brought my free hand up to catch him in the nose again.
The knife dropped from his grip and he fell to one knee. I pulled my gun out and held it up to the side of his head using both hands.
"You know, we talk about you a lot." He spoke with a bloody smirk. "The girl who's all too connected to HYDRA. You'd make a great agent."
"I don't take pleasure in hurting people unless it's douche-bags like you." I let go of my gun with one hand and put my hand to my ear. "I've got him—,"
The agent pushed my gun away, the action causing me to pull the trigger once. He caught me twice in the stomach and then took off running down the sidewalk. I followed behind him, breathing heavily through my mouth with my gun by my side. Without even thinking, I darted across a street.
The car blew it's born and people on the sidewalk screamed, but I didn't have time to change what was happening. The car hit me and I rolled up on to the wind shield. When the driver slammed on their breaks, I was thrown off of the car and on to the road.
The driver and a few pedestrians began to shout at me, questioning my well-being. I pushed myself to my feet, grabbed my gun, and looked in the direction the HYDRA agent had gone.
He had stopped on the other side of the street, a smirk prominent on his face. I took off in a sprint towards him. Adrenaline was pumping through my veins. The agent started running too. We both turned a corner and I came to a stop. Hunter was standing there with a gun held up to the HYDRA agent. I took a pair of cuffs out of my pocket and went up behind the agent.
"You are so lucky I have the very few morals that I do." I growled as I slapped the cuffs on to his wrists.
I made my way through S.H.I.E.L.D.'s new headquarters, ignoring the glances I was receiving from a few agents.
"It's not like we aren't all spies." I muttered. Many of them had expressed their displeasure with my reinstatement into S.H.I.E.L.D., but I managed to ignore them. I was here for only one reason. I stopped at Director Coulson's door and knocked twice.
I opened the door and walked in. Coulson stood in front of his desk, waiting for me.
"I was told you wanted to see me when we landed." I closed the door behind myself.
"Yeah. How did the mission go?" He asked.
"Good. We apprehended the target and he's in the dungeon now."
"Agent Morse said you were hit by a car."
"Agent Morse was a little dramatic." I rolled my eyes. "I was clipped and then I rolled off the hood. I'm fine, really."
"I want you to get checked out by one of the doctors here before leaving."
"Yes, sir. Is that why you called me here?" I took a step back towards the door, hoping this wouldn't take too long.
"No. Have you had any contact with Captain Rogers recently?"
I fell silent for a few moments, biting the inside of my cheek.
"You know I don't like to discuss this, Phil."
"There was a terrorist attack this morning in Vienna." Phil pressed a button on his prosthetic hand. A screen across the room turned on to reveal footage of the attack. "Captain Rogers was there along with Natasha Romanoff. It was a United Nations meeting to discuss this thing called the Sokovian Accords. It would require all enhanced people to register with the government."
"Is there a suspect?" I asked, crossed my arms over my chest as I moved closer to the screen.
"Yeah. A man by the name of Sergeant James 'Bucky' Barnes."
My eyes flighted over to Coulson's.
"You've got to be joking."
"I wish I was. They've got damning proof."
A picture came up of a man that had to be Bucky messing around the back of the van that exploded.
"As of right now, at least twelve have died, including Wakanda's King T'Chaka."
"Shit.... Shit. Shit!" I stomped my foot. He was in so much trouble. This was bad, so, so bad.
"Has the Captain tried to contact you?"
"I don't know, Coulson." I sighed out. "We don't have the best relationship, honestly. He's kind of a righteous asshole. No offense."
I dug my hand into my pocket and pulled out my phone. Sure enough, I had seven missed calls from the man.
"I'm going to go call him. If I find anything out that I can share with you, I will." I started to leave but Coulson stopped me.
"Widia, you might have to share more than you want to with me."
I turned to face him, crinkling my brows together.
"Right now, Barnes has been bumped right back up to the number one bad guy in the world. You are on that list of suspected allies. If word gets out that you're with us, S.H.I.E.L.D. will take a hard hit that we might not be able to recover from."
I nodded my head but said nothing.
YAAAAAAAYYYY!!!! THE SEQUEL IS FINALLY HERE!!! And yes I will be following some of the events in CA:Civil War but not all of them and I will make adjustments to whatever seems fit.....
