Most find the energy within themselves but she found it within others

Evie did not go with Clary, Jace or Simon to take Luke to Magnus'. Despite her growing worry for her father figure she was exhausted in terms of socialising with the others and could not stand to spend any more time then necessary to get back to the institute with any of them. Therefore, she returned with Alec and Izzy to the institute with the atmosphere being awkward for once with none of the party wanting to initiate conversation. Instead of trying to start a conversation Evie brought out her phone and headed to her contacts. Holding her finger over the number which used to belong to Gret she debated calling it wondering if she would be greeted with the girl's normal message or if the number had finally been disconnected. Evie could not find it in herself to press the number however, scared if it had been disconnected and she would no longer be able to hear the voice she missed so much. Rather she turned her attention to her photo albums starting to scroll through them. It had been a miracle her phone had come out of the accident almost untouched other than the broken screen. This had been replaced before she had awoken so she still had a connection to whom her mother had thought was just her best friend at the time. Her scrolling and sudden look of pure happiness did not go unnoticed by those who accompanied her.

"Lele who's that?" Came the gruff voice of Alec from her left side. She was in too much of a happy place to remember her current hatred towards the two people she was with. Honestly, she was happy someone wanted to talk about Gret, both her mother and her sister had avoided the topic like it was the plague in the three weeks post crash.

"Only the most amazing person to ever have existed." Evie sighed before flicking to the next picture. "Created by the Gods, she was my walking angel. I would do anything for this woman then and now. My god, the way she smiled, she laughed, she would take all the attention in the room yet no one could be mad at her. How could you be mad at a face like that? She's quite possibly the love of my life or should I say was the love of my life. Just another beautiful soul taken too soon. I would do anything to trade places with her. Even if she could walk upon this earth for just a couple minutes longer, just enough so she could spend more time with her family." By this point Evie was crying as she swiped onto the next photo which was them at prom. Gret had worn a suit with a red coloured tie that matched Evie's dress. "We talked about marriage and starting our own family. Intended to adopt two children, one that looked like her with dark curls and a ginger like myself. I thought we would have our happy ending. I still love her with my whole heart even now." Evie flipped to another photo a picture with two girls on the beach. "She was the first person ever in my life to see me before they ever saw my sister. The only person to ever prefer me over Clary" Evie finished before going silent and walking ahead of the two siblings.

Alec and Izzy exchanged a look behind the figure of the retreating ginger. Alec regretted asking the questions after knowing how much they upsetter the girl. However, Izzy felt a mixture of emotions. For some reason, though she could not pinpoint why, she felt dejected. The main feeling, and the one which scared her, was that there was a small amount of jealousy which bubbled inside of her. She could not work out why she felt this way and this scared her even more. These feelings for Izzy did not get any better when they reached the institute. Upon entering, she watched as Evie was gathered into a hug by another female shadowhunter. It took moments for Izzy to recognise the other woman as Billie, an amazing weapons specialist. The feelings only continued to intensify as she watched the two girls walk away in what seemed to be the direction of Evie's room.

Evie and Billie retreated to her room where Evie went on a full recount of the mission she was just on. Billie felt overprotective of the younger girl, therefore, when Evie explained how she felt when she reunited Simon with Clary, Billie was not happy. For they may have only known each other for a day though it seemed as though the young girl was someone who was hard to not like. The two relaxed very quickly afterwards with Billie leaving the room only ten minutes after their conversation ended. Though it was also at this time that she received another knock upon her door.

"Magnus needs our help" Evie looked into the blue eyes of Alec and agreed knowing the young man was excited to see the warlock. She was not going to come between young love. Upon entering Magnus' hostel for the warlock kind Evie went off to find Zoe. She couldn't stand to be around Luke in his current state to scared to see that he was weakening. She didn't think she was even needed here in the first place after all they had Clary why should they need her. Therefore, she deemed herself to be a hinder rather than a help and headed off to see the young girl she had grown fond of.
