It seemed as though information was being withheld and she'd finally had enough
Maryse and Evie had been sat in the kitchen for another hour and a half until the ice cream pot was empty. Shortly after, she had returned to her room deciding to get herself ready, despite how late in the night it had been, she wanted to train. Hoping that if she stopped sulking and instead focused on herself she could mould herself into a better person. Once out of her second shower of the day she changed into something comfortable. Something that would still fit the Shadowhunter style but also showed a little bit of her own before she had been thrown into this world. She dressed in a pair of skinny jeans a grey coloured hoodie and an oversized denim jacket. She wore a simple silver chain adorned with diamond stars. It was one of her most prized items and Evie was happy to be wearing it again. She wore a simple gold bracelet on her left wrist and a black hairband on her right. She pulled on a pair of trained socks and then her black and white Adidas Gazelles. She had managed to do a small amount of shopping during the time she had been at the institute and felt much better reverting to her old style. She then focused on her makeup going for a pinky coloured eyeshadow look with an intense winged eyeliner.
Once happy with her look Evie headed down to the training room. She was going to train whilst comfortable and was happy to see faces she had never seen before. It also appeared as though they too were waiting for her. Thus a training session began. They focused mainly on different types of weapons before determining that she was exceptionally good with batons and a bo staff. Evie was even happier to see that they were willing to give her the weapons she had set her eyes upon when she went after the vampires. She was finally truly enjoying herself, the group of shadowhunters she was working with had made her feel as though she finally fit in. They were kind and careful with her yet allowing her to grow and develop at her own speed. The group consisted of one other female and two males. She learnt that their names were Billie, Caper and Jack. Each one was tanned with dark hair. Therefore, meaning that she stood out with her pale skin and ginger hair.
This blessed time she had with her new friendship group was interrupted. The ringing of her mobile phone that blurted the lyrics of 'I'm sexy and I know it'. Reluctantly she moved to answer it, she did not recognise the number and frankly did not want to deal with whomever was on the other side.
"Lele, is that you?" Came the deep voice she recognised as Alec Lightwood. She immediately tensed not wanting to know why he would suddenly be calling her. Especially considering he hadn't even seemed to notice she had gone 'missing'. Her tensing at the phone call was not missed for Billie took the younger girls hand into her own offering support.
"Yeah Xander, it's me." Evie managed to answer despite the strong urge to hang up and turn her phone off so she could no longer be reached. However, she remembered her new pledge to not mope around and therefore stayed on the line awaiting the true reason as to why he called her, for she was certain it was not because he missed her presence.
"I'm in a spot of trouble and I could really use your help. It's your sister really. I was going after her when she left the institute only for her to be arrested by fake police officers when I was checking the area around your mother's flat. I need your help to get her back. We've managed to trace her to the Jade Wolf restaurant. Please meet us there." Evie did not bother to reply to the demand knowing there was no questioning as to whether she was to go. She hung up the phone and took a moment to really contemplate her options. She could go and help out her sister in an unfamiliar location and with a group of people she couldn't trust. Or she could stay behind with the group of people she barely knew, but felt as though she could trust with her life. There was also the fact that her sister was involved. The twin inside her screamed at her to stop the hesitation and to just go but the part of her who was hurt by her sisters actions and those of the people she deemed friends wanted her to leave Clary to sort her own messes out for once.
The better part of her won the internal debate. That was how she found herself outside the Jade Wolf Restaurant on the pier. It took no time to spot Alec, Izzy and Jace they stood out like sore thumbs on the otherwise quiet pier. All three looked over at the same time to see her approaching and Evie wasn't sure if they were certain she was going to show. Evie herself wasn't sure she was going to show honestly thinking she would chicken out on the way.
"Evie thank the angels you showed" Izzy started approaching the girl attempting to pull her into a hug. At first Evie wanted to accept the hug but she knew this would be giving in too early and she was still hurt. Therefore she took a step backing knowing they most likely wouldn't be acting in this way if Clary was not in trouble.
"Let's get this over with." Evie's short and blunt response rung out as Evie ignored the flash of hurt that crossed Izzy's face. The three veteran Shadowhunters watched on as the youngest Fairchild brought out her two batons and began to spin them in her hands. Evie was ready, ready to fight so she could head back to the institute where Billie had promised to wait up for her. She watched on as a fire broke out in one the rooms, having been briefed on what was happening she knew this was where Simon was located.
"I'll get him, you go after my sister" Evie proclaimed before running off towards Simon. Getting to the room was relatively easy, no one was heading in the direction of the fire and she encountered her first problem only when she was practically right outside of the room. This was when she came face to face with a male werewolf. This was also where she put her training into play. She began to strike with the batons hitting him in many places that would leave a mark the next morning. It was not long until her attacker went down unconscious. He posed no more threat so she dragged him out of the way slightly in case the building was to explode. She then smashed a window in to come face to face with Simon.
"Simon, get your scrawny butt out of there now come on!" She exclaimed offering a hand. She proceeded to pull him out of the window but he was heavier than he appeared. The two ran to meet the others where they formed a large group of six in the middle of the driveway. Clary flung herself towards Simon not taking notice of Evie next to him. Evie chanted that she was not going to let his affect her praying it would work.
"Okay guys, whatever you do don't move" Evie stated as she heard grumbles around them. She then came face to face with her first ever transformed werewolf. If she was being honest these were nothing she had prepared herself for, the ones in Twilight being incredibly different to what she was currently seeing. Was she scared? Just a little bit. Though she was not scared for her life. She then watched as a fight broke out between two of the werewolves. Evie was stunned about how they moved and how vicious they became. She had barely registered when Clary had shouted Luke's name. For there was no way that her father figure was a werewolf. Though she finally registered it when he transformed back and collapsed on the ground. It only truly registered when she noticed the extent of his injuries. Though all she could think of in this moment was that she was about to lose the only Father she had ever had.
