Pretty Please?

"Maddy, come here." Jay's voice was muffled by the pillow I was covering my face with.

"No." I hugged the pillow closer. "I'm just gonna stay here forever," I mumbled.

"But you promised you would watch the movie with me," he whined.

"Does me being here not count for anything?"

"Nope. I want you to come cuddle with me and actually watch it." I could here the grin in his voice and rolled my eyes. I stood from my seat on the couch and walked over to Jay who had his arms open while he laid on the recliner. I snuggled up with him and pressed my cheek against his chest. We finally got settled, his arm holding me close as my hands gently played with the fabric of his sweatshirt. I sighed in contentment as my eyes drifted shut.

"Hey," Jay spoke, brushing a stray lock of hair off of my face. "Don't fall asleep just yet. We still have to watch the movie, baby."

"Nooooo," I groaned turning into him more. "This is such a happy moment. Watching that movie'll ruin it."

"It won't ruin it. You're just being a pansy." He laughed as he hugged me closer to him. "Plus, I'll be right here the whole time." I felt him place a kiss on the top of my head.

"You're crushing me and my dream of a peaceful night," I spoke in a nasally voice as he still hadn't loosened his grip on me.

"Oh shush, you love it," he hummed against me.

"Maybe just a little." I smiled. I pulled back a little and kissed him right below his jaw and chuckled as I felt his heartbeat pick up underneath my hand on his chest.

"Can we pretty, pretty, pretty please watch something else?" I emphasized each 'pretty' with a kiss to Jay's jaw and neck. When I finished the question I continued to kiss along his neck, using one hand to play with the ends of his dark brown hair.

"Uh," he drifted off, losing his train of thought. I tugged slightly on his hair and he quickly came back. "S-sure what do you want to watch?" he stuttered.

"Maybe Sydney White?" I asked, kissing below his ear.

"Okay sweetie," he mumbled, his eyelids closed as I continued my torment.

"Awesome!" I got up to change the movie, immediately bringing Jay back to reality.

"Wait a second," his eyes narrowed as he pointed an accusing finger at me. "That wasn't very nice."

"I was just exploiting your weakness, darling. It's a simple strategy that I'm surprised you fell for, honestly." I shrugged as I pulled Sydney White from our movie cabinet. Before I could bend over to put the movie in, I felt Jay's arms slide around my waist, pulling me back against his chest.

"Jay," I warned, knowing what he was up to.

"Hm," he hummed against my shoulder as he gently swayed us back and forth.

"I know what you're doing and it's not gonna work," I spoke firmly.

"I'm hardly doing anything, Maddy. I distinctly remember that I'm the angel in this relationship and you are the little she-devil."

"I am not! You're such a-" I began turning around but froze when Jay's hands rested on my waist.

"What were you gonna say, my sweet little spawn of Satan?" Jay asked, his breath brushing against my ear.

"That you're amazing and we can watch whatever you want," I grumbled, knowing that any other response would have elicited a tickle fight.

"That's what I thought." He kissed my cheek and took the movie that was still in my grasp and set it on the table before pulling me back to the couch.

"I don't like being scared," I whined.

"I know," Jay responded.

"Then why do you insist that we watch scary movies?"

"I like knowing that you trust me to protect you even if it's not real. I always want you to feel safe when I'm holding you."

"Really?" I sat up, looking at him with wide eyes.

"Nah, you just always smell really nice and I make bets with myself on how many times you jump." He laughed as I slapped his chest, returning to his side.

"Jerk." He smiled at my dramatics.

"I love you too."
