"So you're gonna try out right?" Emma asked for the fourth time today. We were currently sitting in Literature with nothing to do and Emma is tryin to convince me to try our for cheer with her.

I told her the story of how I used to cheer back home and had been my whole life. I love cheer. Not just jumping up and down cheering for the school but real cheerleading competitions. Those were always my favorite. It was the time when people came to cheer you on. And it was so much fun!

"I'll think about it but I don't know." I said. "Oh come on, you been cheering your whole life! You're really good and hey maybe you might even take Jennifer's place as captain." She whispered the last part.

"That's another thing, I don't wanna deal with the barbies for a whole cheer season." "But hey look at the bright side, if you make captain, they can't be bitches towards you and they know that." She was starting to convince me. Maybe starting back up on cheer would make thing a little easier here.

"Okay I'll do it" she squeals but not loud enough for the teacher to hear her. "Yay! Tryouts are after school!"

We are now at lunch and Emma is still talking about cheer tryouts. "This is gonna be so fun!" She squealed as I stuck a fork in my salad.

"What's gonna be fun?" Andy's voice came from behind us as the guys sat down at the table.

"Hadley and I are trying out for cheer after school!" She said. "Wow I never saw you as a cheering type of girl, pumpkin" Carter said.

"I've been cheering my whole life and I cheered for my old high school" I told them. "And she's really good, she showed me videos from her old cheer competitions. I think she might be better than Jennifer"

We continues to talk about other things after that and soon enough it was time to get ready for tryouts.

We were each given a pair of black spandex shorts and a yellow school cheer team tank top. We all also had white cheer shoes. I pulled my hair up in a ponytail and went onto the football field.

"Hi girls, my name is Ms. Kim and I'm the head cheer coach for the high school. Today we will teach you a simple routine which you will perform at the end of tryouts and you will be asked to tumble to the best of your abilities. Everyone clear? Okay so let's get stretching"

The coach seemed nice. She had brown eyes and medium brown hair and she was tall. After stretching we began to learn the routine.

Throughout the whole tryout I received dirty looks from Jennifer, especially during tumbling. I did pretty well and jealously was written all over her face. I was pretty confident about this.

Once everyone was done performing and tumbling, we all gathered around to hear the results.

"Great job today girls! Okay so the team is.." she went on telling the other girls names "Emma Black, And our new captain Hadley Jones! Congratulations to the girls who made it. Our first practice will be tomorrow after school where we will hand out uniforms along with our bags and practice clothes. We will also work on our cheers for pep rally we have after tomorrow to get ready for the game on Friday!"

I can't believe I made captain! I was so excited as well as Emma was. I felt a tap on my shoulder as I reached my car. I turn to see Jennifer. "You think you can just come up in my school and act like you run everything now? Well you're wrong. Captain was my spot and you're going to regret taking it from me" and with that she left.
