Chapter 16 - The Tent

We waited on the couch or near the couch for 10 minutes before Zach came out, clean.

"I SAY BOOM BOOM BOOM, NOW LEMME HEAR YOU SAY WAYHO!"

"WAYHO!" Everyone screamed.

"I'm deaf now. Thanks, guys," I said.

"You wanted us to so..." Jack replied, being the smart Alec he is.

"I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" I shouted back, "WHAT DID YOU SAY?" Jack just rolled his eyes.

"Come on. You guys know that Brooklyn is a deaf old lady. Don't be mean to her," Zach said, coming to the couch, where we sat. I punched him playfully.

"And Zach is being delusional," I said, smirking.

"See? She can hear now. Thanks, Zach," Jonah said. I slapped Jonah on his shoulder playfully as well.

"I'm bored," Isabella said.

"Agreed," I replied.

"Zach and I can help with that," Jack said and walked away. He came back with rubber bands and I immediately knew what we were going to do.

"Quick! Restrain Daniel before he knows!" I said, running to Daniel and hugging him as tight as possible, making sure he doesn't escape. Zach had already grabbed the watermelon and brought it to the living room.

"I think it's better if we go to the kitchen for this," Isabella said. We got ready and put a plastic trash bag on the kitchen island and put the watermelon and rubber bands on top. We prepared fast before Daniel realized what we were doing.

"WAIT. ARE YOU GUYS DOING THE RUBBER BAND ON A WATERMELON THING? PLEASE TELL ME YOU'RE NOT," He panicked.

"Sorry bro," Isabella shrugged.

"NOO!" Daniel shouted before diving for the watermelon. Everyone blocked his way and tried to stop him.

"I'm sorry Daniel, but it's for the best! You can eat it afterward," Corbyn said.

"UGH! Fine," Daniel said and crossed his arms and sat down on the floor.

"Aww....Is baby Daniel angwy?" I said with a baby tone and rubbed his hair.

He just faced the other way and said, "Just do what you gotta do."

I just looked at the others and they shrugged. I just brushed it off and we started putting on the first few rubber bands. We continued for about 30 minutes before it exploded.

"NO! MY BABY!" Daniel ran into the room and saw his baby's guts all over the place.

"Did anyone count how many rubber bands we put on?" Jack asked.

"Umm....Probably not," Zach said.

"UGH! You know what fine because that was SO MUCH FUN!" Isabella said.

"No it wasn't," Daniel said, fake crying, "Time of death, 11:47," He said before fake weeping. The rest of us just laughed at him and started to put the watermelon and clean pieces in a bowl for us to eat later. Oh how lazy we are.

We cleaned up the kitchen island and decided that tomorrow we can go to the beach to watch the sunrise. We quickly headed to bed and decided that it would be best if Zach could sleep with me.

"Hey Zach?" I asked when no one was around, "Do you want to sleep in my bed? I think it's best if we do because tomorrow we have to get up early and I don't want you to stay up too late. So if you want...?"

"Yeah, thanks!" He said, "Hold on."

"Ok," I said and I walked into the room. I jumped onto the bed, face first, and just laid there for a minute. All of a sudden, a body slammed onto mine.

"OOF! What are you doing?" I asked.

"Dogpile," He said and then he hugged me, "Now hugs." He eventually got off of me and then we got ready for bed when I had an idea.

"Zach?" I whispered just in case everyone else was asleep.

"Yes?"

"Do you want to pitch that tent outside?"

"Let's do it." We walked to the car, where we still kept the tent's box. Wow, we are really that lazy... Oh well! I got to the box first and hauled it in my arms. I turned around and bumped into Zach.

He took the box from my arms and said, "Although I love an independent lady, I don't want you hurting yourself."

"No it's ok. I've got this."

"Haha. Ok. We'll see about that." I walked to the back of the house. I put the box down and opened it.

"See? I've got it," I said with a smirk. I took out the tent from the box.

"Do you even know how to set it up?" Zach asked.

"Yup," I said as I tossed the instructions to the side. It took about 10 minutes, with the help of Zach, before the tent was up. We took our pillows and a blanket we would share and put it in the tent. We sat outside the tent to look at the stars for about 10 minutes.

"They're sooo pretty....." I gazed up and stared at the stars in amazement.

"Just like you.." He said and I looked at him, right into his hazel eyes. We linked our fingers together, involuntarily, and stared at each other for awhile. Then, I looked at our hands, together. A perfect fit.

"They're a perfect fit," I said as I stared into his eyes again. He started to lean in and I leaned in too. Next thing I know, fireworks were going on in my head. It felt as if we were one. Next thing you know, we separated and I stared into his eyes yet again, except this time, they were twinkling. A breeze came by and I shivered.

"Are you cold?" He asked and I nodded.

"We should really go to sleep now," I said, "We have to get up quite early."

"Yeah." We headed into the tent and the last thing I remember before I fell asleep was that Zach wrapped his arms around me from behind and linked our hands together. I smiled thinking of what happened and drifted off to sleep.
