It was the 24th of December, 1984. Snow was falling delicately all over Hawkins and the Wheeler home looked just like a gingerbread house. El had returned just in time for Christmas so Hopper and the gang had taught her all about it and she quickly fell in love with the holiday, and the snow that came along with it. Hopper had managed to convince Dr Owens to let El spend Christmas with the Wheeler's. Hopper wanted Eleven to be around people she loved for the holiday, so he and El had been staying there since the 20th, so El could also enjoy the lead up to Christmas Day, and decorating the tree.
The gang had decided to spend Christmas Eve together since they would be spending Christmas Day with their families. They were all downstairs, watching every Christmas movie that came on the TV and talking about anything and everything. At around 7 o'clock, Lucas's mom came to pick up Lucas, Dustin and Max since she had agreed to drop Dustin and Max home. About 15 minutes later Jonathan arrived to get Will, and soon it was just Eleven and Mike left in the cozy basement.
The two enjoyed their friends company, but sometimes they just wanted to spend time with each other. As soon as the others had left, El got up and walked over to Mike, snuggled up to him as he draped his arm around her shoulder. They sat together, watching the TV before heavy footsteps echoed down the stairs. "C'mon kids, dinners ready" Hopper said, gesturing up the stairs. Karen had made Chicken Pot Pie for Christmas Eve dinner, Mike and El's favourite.
After dinner they all sat in the living room, watching Holly open her Christmas Eve gift. They all smiled at her happy little face as he unwrapped a cabbage patch doll in a pink dress. Shortly after, Karen put Holly to bed and Mike and El headed back to the basement. As they stepped off the last step Mike stopped. "Look El" He said while he pointed upwards at the mistletoe that was hung from one of the beams in the roof. El smiled at him. She had learnt all about mistletoe. She stepped towards him and wrapped her arms around his neck. He wrapped his around her waist and leant down, connecting their lips. After a minute or so Mike pulled away, leading El over to her fort where they cuddled up together. Nancy saw the kiss from the top of the stairs. Luckily, she brought her camera with her and managed to get a picture of the two under the mistletoe.
At around 10 o'clock, El started to get tired. Mike could feel her going slack against his chest. He slowly laid her down and tucked her in, kissing her forehead before turning to head upstairs. He reached the bottom of the steps before he heard a small voice. "Stay" he turned and saw El, sitting up and looking at him. He sighed and walked over, kneeling in front of her. "I want to El, but you know I'm not allowed to" he answered, clutching her hands. She pouted and looked at him with doe eyes. He sighed again. How could he say no to that face? He crawled in next to her and pulled her close, the both of them snuggling under the blankets. El sighed contently and started to drift of. Mike smiled down at his beautiful girlfriend and quickly fell asleep too.
