Friday December 4th

Hours passed into days and days passed into weeks. Hermione and Draco effectively ignored one another and everyone seemed to notice how Draco had gone back to hating her and calling her names, although he never did call her Mudblood again. Whenever one ran into the other Hermione would simply walk the other way while Draco would do the same. They stopped talking and they stopped communicating. It was like nothing between them had ever happened.  They ignored each other’s existence.

Many were confused at first at their behavior. After that night in the Great Hall during dinner many thought that Draco and Hermione was a couple, no matter how odd and revolting the thought was to them. But the next day it was if nothing had happened and slowly everyone else went back to their routines.

Pansy was confused and once tried to ask Hermione about what happened but she simply replied that her and Draco just weren’t made out to be friends and better off as enemies as it had always been. Theodore kept closer to Hermione but she pushed away from not only him but Harry and Ginny.

She started dating Cormac Mclaggen but after a few days of him wanting nothing to do but snog her she finally broke up with him when it escalated into him wanting more. She snogged any boy that caught her fancy hoping to give Ron a taste of his own medicine and it seemed to do exactly as she hoped. Ron was irritable at most times and more angry than usual when he caught Hermione snogging a boy she probably didn’t even know the name to.

Harry was confused at Hermione’s behavior and didn’t understand what had come over her. Ginny also didn’t understand but if she had to place a bet on why she would place her wager on Draco, she knew something happened between them but every time she asked Hermione, she would just be turned down and further pushed away from her best friend. So she decided to ignore what happened and often times tried to keep on the good side of Hermione until she was ready to explain to her about everything.

Headmistress McGonagall didn’t know what was wrong with her brightest student. During their training sessions Hermione did nothing but sit there and stare blankly, it unnerved Minerva to great lengths. She tried to get her to get involved but she settled with Hermione partially participating knowing arguing and yelling at her would do more harm than good. She just wishes she had a clue about what made Miss Granger that way.

Hermione also didn’t keep her word about challenging Draco in class. She knew it meant more to him than her. She actually stopped going to class altogether and simply stayed in the forbidden forest either practicing with her powers, talking with Aime who she told everything to, or watching the thestrals. She didn’t need to go to class and after a few days of zoning out in class and ignoring her friends around her; she decided it was best to just stop going at all. She could still ace the NEWTS without going. She did still see George on Saturdays and that did seem to give her some comfort but most times she just seemed, lifeless. At least in George’s eyes.

She didn’t laugh or smile anymore and when she tried to it looked much too forced. No one knew what was going on with Hermione, but she seemed to turn into nothing but a comatose hot commodity. She wasn’t the same and only seemed to be partially animated when making Ron jealous, other than that she was blank, empty, gone.
