Chapter 3-The Deal
I don't know how long I was in that room. It was at least a couple of hours, but it could of been days. Too bad Baldy had taken my phone. I was too weak to panic or try to escape. I was so thirsty. Only when I was asleep, could I pretend that the thirst didn't exist.
I heard the sound of a click, but I made no motion to move. I was too weak too move. I opened my eyes slowly to see baldy and another man walk in. The other man who walked in was tall, maybe too tall. He had slicked back black hair, and he appeared quite muscular, but not as muscular as Baldy. He was scary looking though. As soon as I saw him I wanted to shut my eyes again. It was the cold demeanor upon his face, and his eyes . . . they seemed soulless. They were so dark it appeared as if he had no iris at all. I wanted to hide away from the frightening men, but there was no where to hide. I stayed in the far left corner.
"Cassie this is my fellow enforcer, Brandon Winters," Baldy said with his arms crossed in front of him.
I stared blankly at them. When I didn't say anything, Baldy approached me slowly with the hard look in his eyes.
"Poor Cassie, do you not feel so well?" He gripped my chin tightly and raised it to make my eyes meet his own.
Once again, I didn't answer. Baldy didn't like this so he gripped my chin extremely tight enough to make me groan in pain. So I nodded weakly, and then he let me go.
He began pacing in front of me. My eyes followed his steps. I looked over at his colleague who was leaning against the wall staring at me. His eyes were void of any emotion.
"It seems, Cassie, that I was wrong about you. You are an innocent bystander in the whole situation."
I mentally sighed with relief. They were going to let me go!
"Unfortunately, even so, we have to kill you."
Any hopes I had before that statement were instantly dashed. "Why?" I choked out as tears of fear began streaming down my eyes.
"It is nothing personal. We just can't allow loose ends to wander about. You are a liability. Sure you may not have caused any problems yet, but you will eventually. They always do," Baldy's eyes hardened at the last statement. He crouched in front of me. Then he grabbed moved a piece of my red flaming hair out of my eyes before he grabbed my chin to make me look up at him again.
"Of course, I suppose there is one other option," Baldy said thoughtfully. "A lot of people have chosen death instead though."
"Anything," I whispered.
"What's that?" Baldy asked.
I moved my dry tongue in my mouth, and I spoke again, louder. "I would do anything."
He smiled, but it was a harsh smile. "I'm glad to see you are eager, but I haven't even told you what you have to do yet."
"What do I have to do?" I asked weakly.
He held his smile. "You will work with us on a very special case." He paused for a moment. "Do you remember who turned you?"
"I know what he looks like," I replied slowly. I felt so tired I just wanted Baldy and his friend to leave so I could sleep.
"That is very good Cassie," Baldy said before giving his colleague a quick glance.
My eyes fluttered close, but I was quickly shook awake again.
