the world was blank, lifeless.
comedy and joy was a genre only those who found the one they would spend the rest of their life with could enjoy. which made day to day life agonising, almost.
family photos were filled with emty stares, strangers were greeted with dishonest nods and kids feared their daily trips to the dentist.

and because no one smiled, no one truly felt happy.

y/n shuffled under the covers to look at her friend who lay next to her. the two were watching a movie, but none of them really payed attention to it.

"you okay there, y/n?"
sana reached out to the girl, holding her hand while looking into her eyes

"yeah, just a bit tired. that's all."
y/n replied, slowly blinking

"do you want me to turn off the tv?"

"yeah, it's getting pretty boring"

"okay. hey y/n? wanna hear a joke?"
sana tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, gazing at y/n while switching off the movie

"enlighten me"

"okay, get ready" sana replied, walking back to y/n

"you're such a weirdo"

"just hear me out y/n, you ready?"

"yeah, just get it over with already"

"please just guess!" sana pouted, bringing her face close to y/n's

"okay uh...... i don't know. tell me"

y/n tried fighting off the chuckle that was coming up her throat and just pushed sana away.
but soon after, her heart exploaded with joy
