When Tuesday arrived Lester woke with a wanging hangover. His head pounded in time with the sound of each passing car outside. He looked at the clock and discovered it was already well into the afternoon. Man I got wrecked last night. He thought through the throbbing. He rolled out of bed landing hard on the floor. He stretched his legs and groaned loudly before getting up. Looking in the mirror he tried to recount how many days he'd been wearing the same clothes. Too many he decided before grabbing something clean to wear and heading to the shower.

He emerged thirty minutes later feeling refreshed but his head still ached. "Beer or aspirin?" He asked himself in the mirror. "Better go with Aspirin. Group is tonight." He told his reflection. After putting his cloths on he popped a couple pills before raiding the fridge for an extremely late breakfast. He polished that off in short order then picked up his phone to discover he had a voice mail.

"Lester this is Robert Ramos. Just calling to check in with you and update you on your case. Give me a call back once you get a chance."

Ugh...I don't want to deal with this right now. He thought staring at the phone for a good minute before hitting the call button.

"Law Offices of Ramos and Renfrow how can I help you?" A sickeningly sweet voice answered on the other end.

"Robert Ramos please." Lester answered.

"One moment please." She put him on hold and the music was loud and obnoxious. It did his hangover no favors.

Eventually Robert answered. "Robert Ramos, what can I do for you?"

"Hey Robert this is Lester Acker, just returning your call."

"Lester. Hey, how are you doing today?"

"I've had worse."

"So it's been a couple weeks and I just wanted to let you know where things stand with your case. I took the request to strike a plea deal to the prosecutor but as of now haven't heard anything one way or the other from his office. Basically the ball is in their court now. All we can do is wait and see what they say."

"So the update is there is no update?"

"Unfortunately.Wish I had some better news for you." Robert responded. "Do you have any questions?"

"Nothing comes to mind at the moment."

"Well Lester, take it easy and I'll let you know if anything changes over the next couple weeks. There's still plenty of time to strike a deal before your trial."

Lester hung up the phone and tossed it on the table. What the hell am I going to do with myself today? He wondered. He knew he needed to lay off the alcohol until after group so he decided to watch some TV sober for the first time in weeks.

Hours later he didn't feel like making anything for dinner so he grabbed his things and headed out to get something to fill his growling stomach. He hopped on the bus and took it to the stop near the Coney Island. He went inside, sat in a booth, and a few minutes later Emma came to take his order.

"Hey Lester how's it going?" She asked cheerfully.

"Hey. Not too bad. Better now that my hangover is gone. How about you?"He responded.

"Alright. It's been pretty hectic today, but I'm off in a bit and I'll be able to rest my feet for a few before going to group tonight. What can I get you?"

"Two Coney dogs, fries, and a Pepsi please."

"I'll have that out in a few minutes." She turned and disappeared behind the counter. She returned shortly with his drink and flitted off to help other customers until his food was ready to bring out.
