Asada Sahle Hamilton
The banging on the door continued as I ran my fingers through my wild hair and turned on the lights. It continued as I rolled my eyes and swung the door open with my bat in my hands only to be greeted by two cops. I sighed and put the bat down as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes.
"It's eleven at night, what do you want?"
"Are you Asada Hamilton?"
"Who wants to know?"
"No reason to get so defensive ma'am, we were just hoping you could help us find...Julio Martinez?"
"I don't know where he could be, I haven't seen him in a while...I don't know."
"You do know if we find out about your inconsistency we could lock you up..."
"With what? You have nothing on me and keep badgering me, I will call my dad's lawyer. Now step."
"Asada, we're just-"
"Step," I repeat.
The two policeman sighed and walked off as I slammed my door and locked it.
Those mothafuckas think I get down with the pigs, when in reality I don't too much fuck around with the law. They're unfair and the shit they do is fucked up.
I entered my room and closed the door as I sighed.
"Jules, they're gone...Jules?"
He walked out from the closet as he sighed and removed his hoodie.
"I'm tired of covering for you, you have to be gone by tomorrow."
"I know Asada, I know. I apprecite this, ma. I'll be out your hair by sunset, you have my word," he says. "How's your father?"
"He's good, we're visiting him in a few weeks. I'll tell him you asked about him."
"Five wouldn't be pretty hyped that I'm dodging the law," he smirks. "You know he didn't play that shit with us, he'll beat my ass."
I smirked and turned my television to low as Jules nudged me, while I looked to see a wad of hundred dollar bills in his hands as I shook my head.
"I don't want your drug money Julio, keep it."
"Come on, Asada...street creds. It's the least I can do."
I shook my head no as he sat beside me.
"You the homie and I appreciate you for this, forreals 'Sada. When I touch down in Belize, I'll remember to hit you up or write you alright?"
I nodded as he grabbed me for a hug, while I smirked.
"Here give this to moms," he says while holding out a card.
"Mommy is going to kick your ass when she finds out what we're doing," I smirk.
"Mommy loves me," he smiles. "Although we aren't blood, you know she loved me more."
"What the fuck ever," I laugh.
I hugged my homie/brother/partner-in-crime as he kissed my forehead and hugged me even tighter. After all of these years, he was finally going back home and he really needed to be back. America was home to us, but he needed to be back in Belize with his real family.
When we were younger, you might as well say daddy adopted Julio. He practically raised him up as his own, because I could easily remember for my fourth birthday...daddy had brung home a little Spanish boy who I'd grow to love as my own blood brother. After being an only child for so many years, Julio and I bonded. Now here were, both nineteen and practially grown-ups...
"I'm going to miss you, killa."
"I'm going to miss you too banga."
He chuckeled and pushed the hair out of my face.
"Stay out of trouble, alright?"
I nodded as he grabbed his things and he was gone...just like that...
Coming soon, be on the look-out!
