Chapter 6

Am I dead?

You were surrounded by darkness. Unable to see anything. The only sound coming from the excessive ringing in your ears. Oh it hurt, It hurt like hell, but the pain felt dull compared to the fact that you didn't know where you were on earth you were.

You felt your hand unconsciously move to the side of your head. Your fingers brushed against your ringing ear, it felt wet and sticky. The wet sensation familiar to your mind; you marked it off as blood.

Blood?

Oh.

That's right.

I've been shot.

He couldn't get to me in time.

He couldn't save me.

I hope hes running.

He doesn't deserve a fate like this.

Your vision comes back. You are greeted by a deep blue ocean of glowing silver dots. White swirls float among the dots. The scene so beautiful.

The sounds of grunting become more and more evident as the ringing in your ears slowly subsides. You slowly turn your head to the side, away from the beautiful portrait above you. Your senses have all but returned, and your vision quickly adjusts to the dim light of the alleyway.

You're met with the scene of a smaller man on top of a fairly larger man. The smaller mans white sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and his hands were clenched into fists. The larger man below him was barely moving. You could just make out the bloody mess that was his face.

The smaller man used one hand to grab a hold of the other mans shirt collar, and with another grunt, he brought his other fist down. Executing a perfectly aimed punch to the larger mans eye.

Levi?

The man let loose another punch.

What....?

Another punch.

I thought I was dead?

And another.

You...saved me?

Another.

You saved me.

His knuckles had turned red, and the swift punches he was delivering were becoming a blur.

No! Stop it!

"How dare you." Levi growled out; now gripping the mans collar with both hands. "Why can't you just leave us alone!?" With a mad look in his eyes he picked up the other mans dropped pistol. Gripping the silver handle with a white knuckle grip; he struck him. The sound of flesh meeting metal was heard, causing you to cringe.

You're hitting him soft enough for him to not lose consciousness. But hard enough for him to feel the pain. You're punishing him...for what he would or would've done to me. And then you're going to kill him with the same weapon he would've used to kill me.

Instincts took over and you bolted up. Swiftly making your way over to your raging lover; you stumbled to your knees beside him, grabbing his forearm just before he was about to lay another strike on the already half dead man.

"Levi." You said softly, "Enough."

He turned his head slightly towards your direction, his eyes flitting to yours then back at the other mans.

Now that you were closer you got a good look at the damage Levi had inflicted upon him.

One of his eyes was terribly swollen, and the whole right side of his face was drenched in blood. He had terrible bruises and no doubt a broken nose. You couldn't stand to examine the rest of his face, and thankfully Levi understood that.

Quickly tossing the gun aside, he stood up. One of his hands gripped firmly around your own. You both walked merely a few feet before he suddenly pulled you towards him.

His arms wrapped around you in a tight embrace; though he was careful not to harm you. " I'm so sorry." He murmured into your hair as you wrapped your arms around his waist.

"Whats there to be sorry for." You murmured back while burying your head against his warm chest.

"For putting you in danger like that."

"I had it under control." You replied with a small smile, despite the fact that you would've died if Levi hadnt shoved you both down.

"Oh shut up." You practically heard the small smile in his voice.

The two of you were in that same postition for who knows how long. And with Levi slowly rubbing your back, you didnt even feel like moving. But finally, he broke away from your long overdue embrace. "Come," He said while taking your hand. "We have to move before that idiot wakes up."

The two of you were about to move but the sudden sound of a shrill whistle froze the two of you in your tracks. "Hey!" Called a weak voice.

Regretfully you and Levi turned around. "You should've killed me when you had the chance Rivaille."

The two of you were about to move but the gunshot froze you in your tracks. There was that sudden unforgettable BANG that still haunts your lovers dreams. There was that unforgettably cold feeling that took over your body as you felt yourself fall backwards into his arms.

Everything around you was suddenly dull.

The feeling Levi's warm chest at your back was dull.

The pain from the furiously bleeding wound in your shoulder was dull.

The sound of Levi worriedly shouting your name was dull.

The sound of the man that shot you 's breathing was dull as he suddenly lost consciousness.

Every sound that reached your ears sounded as if it was underwater. And the only clear thing you saw before losing consciousness was the sky.

The deep blue nighttime sky with glowing silver dots and swirling white clouds. Oh how beautiful it looked to your half lidded tear filled eyes.

So beautiful, yet so cruel.
