1 Week Later (Piper's POV)
Lydia didn't get cleared for a few days, and by then the buses were fixed and we were all ready to go. Lorenzo came and took her home, I hope she's okay. She hasn't been to school in for couple of days and I'm getting worried.
"Hey Pipes, how are you?" Blaire asks with a sympathetic look, I put on a fake smile. "I'm fine. How are you?" Truth is I'm not fine, I don't think Brandon is either. Today is a very hard day for us, it's the one year anniversary of our mother's death.
"That fake smile isn't fooling anyone, really, how are you?" Right as I was about to answer, Lydia came walking in looking like she didn't have a care in the world. She looked brand new, makeup, new style, hair done, everything.
"Something is up with her." Blaire gives me a questioning look. Obviously something's wrong with her, she got stabbed by her psycho father a week ago and now here she is, walking in as if nothing happened.
"What do you mean?" I looked at her as if she had three heads. Is she crazy or just dumb? "Look at her! She just got stabbed a week ago and now she looks like she wasn't even hurt at all. Plus her and Brandon haven't spoken since. You don't just say you love each other and then not speak for a week. Plus Brandon is kissing any girl in sight today, I hate seeing him like this."
"Like what?" I turned around to see Lydia with a smile on her face. What's got her so happy? "Nothing, don't worry about it. What's up? How's the leg? You look great!" She does a little twirl but I can see it in her face that she's in pain.
"Thanks. It feels as if someone's running me over with a bus but the pain meds really work. Anyways, guess who finally got a phone!" She says excitedly causing me and Blaire to give each other questioning looks. When she told us her story, she said one of the number one rules were no phones. I'm so confused.
"I thought you couldn't have a phone?" she shakes her head and sighs. "I wasn't supposed to, but Lorenzo and I had a very long talk about what happened last week and he thought it would be best if I got one so that I could stay in touch with him at all times. He even dropped me off at school, annoying but understandable given the circumstances. Anyways, how are you guys?"
"Not so good but I'm okay. Today is the one year anniversary of our mother's death so it's a sad day. The worst part of it being that Brandon blames himself for it and that's the whole reason he became a player and everything. You should talk to him, he listens to you." I don't want to use grief to my advantage but there's got to be something that will get these two to talk.
"Oh. I'm so sorry, that must have been awful for you guys. If you need anything, I'm here for you." She puts her hand on my shoulder, I shake my head and shrug it off. "No, it's okay. I've been putting it off for months, you don't have to worry about me. It's Brandon you have to worry about, he's tearing himself up and I'm really worried. Will you please talk to him?"
"I'll do anything for you Piper, I got your back." Right as she said those words, the bell rang and she darted off. I think she's forgetting I have homeroom with her.
"I gotta go, I'll see you at lunch-"
"Piper wait. Are you actually ok? I'm worried about you." Blaire stops me, I nod and put on another smile. "I'm fine Blaire. The one we should be worried about is Brandon, you know he blames himself. I don't know what he will do, I have to get to homeroom I'll see you later." And with that said I walked off and made my way to class.
