Even though this lifestyle was destined for me, I was hoping that I could somewhat escape it, but I was sheltered my whole life, so I didn't have any interest or hobbies. I didn't know how to do anything, but how to be involved in the business my father started when he was a teenager. The business that my older brother and I now run. I handle the financial part of things, while he get his hands dirty with the drugs. Though I only handle the money, I know how to get my hands dirty and defend myself when necessary.
My brother and I also lived together. He wanted to keep me close, because he felt the need to watch after me, because of the enemies we make everyday. I didn't mind it either. We were very close, all we had was each other. We looked out for each other at all cost, especially with us being the most respected and well known family in East Harlem. Our father already had the streets on lock when he was running things, but when we took over, we made moves. Moves our father was too afraid to make. We expanded and the money we made multiplied.
My brother took over when he was seventeen, because our father died. I was only twelve, so I didn't know too much, but once I turned eighteen, and I started helping out. Our dad's 'best friend' set him up at an exchange. They were just suppose to rob him, but shots were fired and he ended up dying. My mom was the definition of ride or die, and she would kill for my father, which is exactly what she did, and why she's in prison right now. My mother was from Brooklyn and my father was from Harlem. Those two strong personalities came together and made my brother and I, and they named us after the cities they were born in.
"What's up, lil' sis?" Brooklin said, walking into the office I had in our giant warehouse. This warehouse was basically like our headquarters. Everything is done through here, but we own some laundry mats and hair salons that we have some of our people work at. After we made a huge trade in a discrete area, all of our product is brought to the warehouse house. The product is divided up and delivered to our different locations. Once they get there, the managers at the locations will divide the product and give it to their dealers. The dealers have a certain amount of time to sell their product and give the money they made to the mangers. After all of that money is counted and numbers add up, the dealers get their cuts of the money. The rest of the money is bought to the warehouse, and is recounted to make sure everything adds up, then the managers get their cuts. Then we put some of the money away for our next trade, and all of the higher ranked people get their cuts, and the process is repeated.
"Hey, B." I said, looking up from the computer on my desk. I know it sound risky putting everything on the computer, but we had a security system, due to the extremely smart tech people in our crew, that's impossible to break, the feds and the government had no chance of breaking into that bitch. Even if they somehow managed to get in, everything thing is coded, and very few people knew how I had everything coded. "You busy?"
"Nah, I just got back from handling that problem we had at one of mats in Spanish Harlem." He said, and I nodded my head.
"I was just about to ask you when you were gonna do that. I think we should promote Dominic to manager, to replace Andy. He's been with us for years, and I trust him." I said, and he nodded his head.
