Ticking Heart

Watch wrapped on her wrist , time traveling in her mind ,
To everyone else counting time is just being fun-blind,
One minute late , her lips twitch in place ,
Three minutes late , the sweat starts trickling down her face ,
Ten minutes late , minutes and seconds she sighs out ,
Fifteen minutes late , her worries start screaming loud ,
Only because she doesn't want anyone to wait ,
The way she waited for you when you were late ,
How it was like waiting for a lion to stop hunting it's prey ,
She waited every night , dawn , morning and day ,
If a month was a year , then she waited a decade ,
When all her regrets were gone with her blade ,
When you kissed her and she told you she loved you ,
You never apologized for your delay to make her dreams come true,
And now you're waiting for her to leave the hospital bed,
But she can't because of the mess in her body and head ,
Your hair was sky black now it has grey streaks ,
You won't blush when she smiles because tears cover your cheeks,
She blinks a second too long once , your lips twitch in place ,
She sleeps for a day , the sweat starts trickling down your face ,
Her watch ticks , her heart beats , the watch stops , your heart drops ,
The machines beep , now she'll forever sleep ,
Your knees don't hold you anymore ,
The nurses rush through the door ,
You don't cry , you stay silent and sigh
Your head's a mess , your throat has never felt so dry ,
Your watch ticks , your lips twice in place ,
She's gone , tears start trickling down your face
Black suit , no black gown , ring only in your hand ,
You stand and cry as they cover her in sand ,
A month underground , your lips twitch in place ,
Two months alone , a smile never met your face ,
Lips so blue , eyes so red
Welcome home , now you're dead.
