"ALRIGHT, SLOW DOWN THERE TIGER!" Steve laughs, pulling away the bottle Summer had just pressed to her lips and swapping it for a bottle of water instead. He of all people knew how badly she would regret it in the morning otherwise.

It wasn't like Summer to drink so excessively and when she told herself earlier that she would only be dropping by Steve's little party for half an hour or so, she probably should've remembered that before having her second beer. She hadn't realised how fast the time had gotten away from her and one beer had wound up turning into three.

"What are you, my dad?" Summer retorts, her words slurring together slightly but she takes the water from him nonetheless. Rolling her eyes as she does, she takes a large sip before giving him a pointed look, "Happy?"

He chuckles before pulling her into his arms and wrapping them firmly around her shoulders as they swayed together for a moment. It had been a while since he last saw Summer so 'relaxed', and knowing that she wasn't stuck at home alone tonight brought him a little peace.

"Come sit with me." He pats her on the shoulder before moving into one of the lounge chairs and Summer follows not far behind. Sliding herself into the one beside him as they both stared up at the night sky.

The stars seemed so much brighter tonight, or maybe that was just Summer's alcohol-induced state making her think so. Either way, she was enjoying the serenity they brought as she let go of all her worries for a short period of time.

Tomorrow she'd be right back to panicking about Will, but for right now, she needed to release some tension.

As she lay on the flimsy chair, her mind literally off with the stars, Steve had become lost in thought as he watched her closely. His heart almost skipping a beat at the sight of her.

It was moments like these that he wished Summer could see herself through his eyes. To see how captivating she was, or how there simply weren't enough words in the world to describe how totally and utterly breath-taking she was.

"So, princess... ever had a beer?" Carol strikes up a conversation with Nancy, attracting the group's attention.

Though Steve is the one to jump at the opportunity, literally, and grabs a can of his own. With all eyes on him, he stabs the can with a pocket knife before shotgunning it. Tommy cheers him on in the background, encouraging his boyish antics as he then drops the empty can to the ground as if it were no big deal.

"Was that suppose to impress me?" Nancy asks, her eyes following Steve as he sits back down.

"You're not?" He muffles, a cigarette now between his lips.

Carol dangles the other can of beer in Nancy's face once again and the shorter girl takes it with a smirk, stabbing it and drinking down the liquid. Summer sat and watched with irritation. She hated the fact that Nancy was weaving her way into their 'friend' group.
