A/N: I'm reposting this chapter because the 1st one was private. So if you couldn't see it, I made this chapter public. Enjoy!

I awake and to my surprise my eyes open. Immediately I squint at the sight of light. I look around the room letting my eyes adjust to the light. Once they do I look around and take in my surroundings. I notice all of the machines I’m hooked up to. I can see that I’m bandaged from head to toe. Everything is pretty standard in the room. I can see light peeking through the closed blinds of the window. The room is completely silent except for the beeping machines. It’s very cold and lonely here but for some strange reason I feel safe.
I hear a knock at the door and I see a woman in a white doctor’s coat enter. She’s very pretty and resembles the country singer Carrie Underwood.
“It’s good to see that you are awake Gloria.” She says with a bright and warming smile. I recognize her voice.
“Dr. Taybor?” I question as I look at her. She really is beautiful.
“Yes. I’m surprised that you recognize me.” She gives me that warming smile again. “I know you’re in some pain. I hope it’s not too much.” She says as she starts to examine me. After finishing she rubs some ointment on my face. “Some of the swelling is starting to go down, which is a good thing. Would you like some water?” She asks once she’s done rubbing in the ointment.
“Yes, please.” I respond. She gives me some ice cold water. I must admit I am thankful. “Thank you.”
“Do you need anything or have any questions?” She asks giving me her full attention. I shake my head ‘No’ as a response. “Okay, is there anything you would like to talk to me about?” I shake my head ‘No’ again. “Okay! Well your assigned doctor should be back soon. So that means this will be my last time seeing you as my patient. So I guess this is farewell for now. Also I should inform you that there are two officers waiting to speak with you. I hope that Gloria will do what Gloria needs to do for her.” She says to me and I can see that she genuinely cares. “I don’t think there’s anything else for me to do so I will be on my way!”
I look to the ceiling as she talks. As she approaches the door I speak
“Thank you, Dr. Taybor for everything you’ve done for me. I honestly don’t think I would be here without you. You really are heaven sent.”
She simply replies with a smile and says “You’re welcome Gloria. Take care and remember what I told you.” Afterwards she turns and walks out while quietly shutting the door behind her.
I start to think about the things she’s said to me. She is absolutely right but it’s still not that easy. Even though he’s put me through all of this; David is still my husband.
My thoughts are soon interrupted by a knock on the door as two officers enter my room. I take a deep breath and brace myself for this.
One officer comes in and takes a seat beside me. I can sort of see the other step back out. I’m guessing to talk to the doctor.
“Hello Mrs. Miller. My name is Officer Walker and my partner Officer Benson will be in shortly. How are you doing?” He asks with his heavy southern accent.
“I’m alive.” I simply reply. Not to be rude or sarcastic. It’s just all I really can say at this moment. I can tell he gets it because he nods in understanding.
“Well that’s always a good thing. Ma’am we’re just here to-“
Before he can finish his sentence the other officer enters. I can’t believe who walks in. My hopes of him not recognizing me are short lived because he pauses as soon as he takes his first step toward me.
