I kept walking, completely oblivious to everyone's questionable stares and weird looks, as I tried to remember where I was living before I met..... not even gonna say his name. I don't need to get mad again.
Slowly recognizing the maze of streets, I take a turn here and there, looking for the old black house with the missing door and broken windows. The house comes into my line of vision, and I grin happily. It was gonna feel so great to be back 'home' again. Home. Haha. Like a home with a family. With brothers and sisters. With a mother and father.
The thought almost made me laugh out loud, but reminding myself that it wasn't such a good idea to stand out, I held it back. I walk in the doorway and sigh heavily.
"It feels so GREAT TO BE BACK HOME!" I shout out cheerfully.
Just as I was about to collapse on my bed and pass out, my stomach growled. 'Not right now, I'll get you some food tomorrow.' I promised it, but it still kept growling. I fell back onto my makeshift bed, fingering my favourite pocket knife, and deciding that I wasn't going to ruin my good mood by cutting. Not tonight.
"Maybe in the morning. It depends on what kind of mood I am in." I say out loud, making a mental note to stop taking to myself.
The floorboards by the door creeked. I jumped a mile. A figure appeared in the doorway to my tiny bedroom, completely covered in shadows. I opened the blade on the knife and held it menacingly. The figure took a step closer, completely trying to test my bearings.
Just as I was about to throw the pocket knife, the figure spoke, completely catching me off guard.
Almost immediately I knew who it was.
"Edward. I thought I told you to leave me alone."
He stepped into the light from the window and I winced as I saw the huge purpleish bruise
from where I had slapped him earlier.
"We need to talk."
"How in the hell did you find me in the first place?"
"I followed you."
"Just great. Now the blonde haired freak knows where I live. That's nice."
I saw him visibly stiffen, his jaw tensing as he tried to remain calm and not yell at me.
"Silver you need to come with me. I'm sorry about your mother, I really am, but you need to be in the care of someone. And I just may be that someone. You need to vent. Do something to rid of your pain. Talk to me. Vent to me. I'll be more than happy to listen, just get rid of your damn pain. "
I clamped my mouth shut and began to consider this. Truth was, I want to vent to him. He was the only person who really understands me. And I loved him for it. I had no idea if he had any clue what I felt, but it didn't matter.
He sensed my uneasiness, and noticed my body going rigid as I thought about it (paragraph above).
I couldn't speak. My whole mind went fuzzy as I hung my head and gave a huge shuddering sigh. Before I could stop myself, my eyes filled and the tears began streaking down my cheeks. I couldn't let Edward see me cry. My bangs covered my face so he couldn't see it.
I choked back a painful sob, my chest constricting with each rasping breath. He noticed my expression and moved closer. I turned my head away from him, and surprisingly he brushed my bangs away from my face, and touched just below my eyes. He yanked his hand back, and it glistened slightly in the light. It was wet. He knew. Crap.
He hissed slightly under his breath as he took the edge of his red jacket and gently wiped the tears off of my face. Since he knew that I was crying already, I didn't try to hold back the rest. My anger dissolved away and I began crying harder.
"Just a few years ago, I came back from school to find my mother in the kitchen with a man I didn't know. He was from the east, blonde hair, golden eyes, and was holding my mother at gun point. I tried to interfere, but right when I thought he was gonna let her go, he shot her in the chest. I screamed bloody murder and he fled, running past me. I knelt next to my mother, both hands pressed against her chest, and she barely had enough strength to whisper her final words to me, which were, 'Take care, my sweet little Silver...'."
I heard Edward suck in a breath, as if he wasn't getting enough air into his lungs, and I paused, considering weather I should go on or not.
"And that's my backstory. I-"
A soft choking sound came from my throat, and I couldn't continue. I buried my head in my hands, and just wept. I couldn't stop it even if I tried, and Edward just stood there, not knowing what to do. I finally felt the strong arms wrap themselves around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him. I gladly accepted, leaning into his embrace, balling my first up into the soft fabric of Edward's jacket, and burying my head into his chest.
I almost immediately stopped crying, and sniffles a couple of times, and leaned back from his arms, blushing furiously.
"I said you needed something that could protect you. I was right. It is me. And I also forgot to say that both you and I need something to live for. We found it." He whispered, softly and just loud enough so I could hear.
"... I told you what happened to me. Will you keep your end of the bargain?"
He smiled softly, and looked at me a bit funny.
"I was gonna keep it anyway..."
Immediately, I got slightly mad.
"Oh you little-!"
He cut me off with a strong hug.
"I love you, Edward."
He stiffened in my arms, and then almost immediatly relaxed.
"I love you too, Silver."
