"I'm glad Mia's here for you."
The sentence runs through my head over and over again as I walk down the isle with Isaiah. Is he serious?
When I take my place behind Mia, she turns a gives me a look that asks if I'm okay. I smile at her and she nods turning around.
We wait as two more bridesmaids and groomsmen walk down the isle, followed by Zoey and Xander. Autumn rushes down the isle and takes her place next to Johnathan.
"So what we're doing here today" The officiant starts. "Is just running through the steps for tomorrow."
"Hey everyone," Johnathan shouts. "Drinks and pizza at my sister's apartment."
A series of hoots, hollers, and giggles were heard.
Mia runs up behind me and hooks her arm into the crook of mine.
"Why did I volunteer our apartment for this?" She crinkles her nose.
"Because you're a great big sis."
She groans. "Well, how are you feeling?"
"Fantastic." I get into her car while she gets into the driver seat.
"Oh, wow, your enthusiasm is glaringly obvious." She snorts. "What did Isaiah say?"
"He's glad you're here for me." I mutter sourly.
She slams on the breaks. "He said what?"
"Jeez Mia! You're gonna get us killed!"
"Sorry, you okay? My niece okay?"
At twenty-two weeks I had finally 'popped'. Although I hadn't found out what I was having yet, everyone's bets were on it being a girl. Mia was quite insistent.
"Carter" I emphasize the name reminding her where I stand. "Is fine."
"Again, Meg, you're to small to be having a boy."
Rolling my eyes I remind her Isaiah was a small baby. I find it hard not to smile thinking of the baby pictures I had seen of Isaiah all those years ago.
"Yeah, and now he's the biggest asshole around."
I laugh hearing her swear, something she never does.
"Okay, lets just focus on your brother's party at our apartment."
"Oh Meghan, you're so adorably tiny still!" Autumn's cousin, April, squeals. She puts her hands on my stomach and starts rubbing.
Having people randomly wanting to touch your stomach has to be one of the weirdest things.
"Yes, little Leah is going to be a petite thing." Mia grins, grabbing April's hands and pulling the tipsy woman away from me.
"Oh! You're having a girl?" Autumn's college roommate, Lindsey, smiles.
"No, Carter's just a small boy."
Mia mumbles 'girl' under her breath while Isaiah suddenly sets his beer on the table and walks out of the room.
Quickly, I stand up and follow after him. I find him by the front door trying to get his shoes on.
"Damn it." He grumbles.
"You okay?" I ask him, also trying not to sound to concerned.
His head snaps up. "Are you serious?" He practically growls. His clenched fist are turning white.
"Serious about what?" I'm utterly confused about what he's angry about and can't help but be hurt.
So he doesn't want his child and he's also going to be angry that I use the names we talked about.
"They're names Isaiah... You" I point at him "Can't be upset I wanted to use them."
He scoffs. "Do you expect me to be happy you want to use the names-" He doesn't finish his sentence. Instead he shakes his head and runs his fingers through his dark hair.
"What Isaiah!?" I whisper harshly.
He shakes his head harder. "Nothing. Both names are perfect." He scratches the back of his neck. "Save a dance for me tomorrow. Okay? I need to talk to you about something."
He glances at my stomach and my arm uncertainly comes across me.
Confused, I nod.
"I'll see you at the wedding tomorrow." He mumbles, quickly walking out the door.
