Chapter 9

Heejun wants to hit something. Anything.

He has seen his bestfriend last night. How devastated he was. How brokenhearted he was.

It wasn't a good sight. Phillip looked ugly. But still, he prefers the Phillip of last night to the Phillip of tonight.

The Phillip of tonight looks handsome as always. No, I'm not gay. He thought defensively. Plus the Phillip of tonight looks composed and calm. Look at the guy, not even a trace of a tear.

But Heejun hates the Phillip of tonight...

... because the Phillip of tonight is creepy.

Heejun had stayed at the lobby for a long time. He was waiting for Phillip and his girlfriend to finish talking. He went up to their room about a few minutes after he's seen Phillip's girlfriend exit the hotel. Phillip wasn't there when he entered their room, so Heejun decided to take a short bath just so he can rest early.

When he came out of the restroom, Phillip was already there. Heejun greeted him enthusiastically wearing his famous smirk.

Everything must have gone well. Because PP isn't crying. He had thought.

Oh how wrong he was. Because when Phillip looked at him, Heejun had to stop himself from cursing. Phillip didn't look sad. Neither did he look angry. In fact, he doesn't look... anything.

His eyes, which usually show Heejun what he really is feeling-- they looked empty. Cold and empty. As if a dementor just kissed him.

They were the eyes of a man who had lost everything... and had given up.

Damn he wants to hit something.

--

Deandre knew there was something wrong the moment Jessica called him.

He was in the middle of a pillow fight with the girls in his and Jeremy's room, when his phone rang. He excused himself from the pillow fight and stepped out into the hallway to have privacy.

"Hiya, Jess," he greeted enthusiastically, "how's my Baby girl?"

"I'm fine, Dre," she replied with her usual, soft voice. But Deandre immediately caught on the slight tremble in her voice.

"What happened?" he immediately asked with deep concern in his voice. He had seen Phillip and his girlfriend awhile ago. He had also seen Colton and Jay. Something must have happened in between. And he will find out.

He heard her sniffle on the other line.

"Dre, I need you, please?" She was crying now.

Without wasting any second, Deandre went straight to the elevator.

Damn, best friend. I knew it.

--

She never stopped crying in the past few hours.

Is this it? Is it going to end just like that? She asked herself.

She knows he is strong. Her parents had taught her not to give up if something is worth fighting for. She has never given up. Not once. Will she start now?

She remembered when she felt his feelings change. She denied it because she doesn't want to believe it. And she hasn't seen anything yet because she wasn't always around.

Then she saw them together. He was different when he's with her. He might not have noticed it, but he was happy. Different happy. His smile was natural. His laugh easily came. His simple gestures-the wrapping of arms on her small waist; his hand on her small back-- they were gestures of possessiveness. He's trying to show everyone she's his, but he doesn't even know it.
