If Only I had...

Perhaps it was in the metallic air,

The way it clung to the back of my throat that night.

Sparkling down my spine,

Welling smooth skin up into shivery gooseflesh.

Or the strangeness of the moon,

Hovering fat,

Burning orange-red.

Eerily punching a hole in the navy, starless sky.

Yet,

Despite all the warnings...

The discomforting sky,

My uncomfortable skin,

I still went...

Walked blindly onto the stage,

With all the other players,

Found my mark,

Read my lines,

Propelled the tragic play to life.

Knowing.

All the while, knowing,

And yet somehow,

Not knowing...

Something...wasn't right.

The spark was lit.

The coals aglow,

No matter what,

There'd be fire.

If only I had...

If only he hadn't...

If only...

If only...

If only...

Somewhere in Raleigh Township

10:15 pm

Cutter is an ASS. But he's an ass who knows how to throw a great party. Everybody who's anybody is supposed to be there. This is according to Jazzy, who's the authority on parties. Myself, I could go a lifetime without attending one. But there isn't much else for teenagers to do on a long weekend in Cherry Hill. Besides, Denver is going to be there. He's the real reason I agreed to go to the party.

The only reason.

Though I'm slowly starting to regret my decision.

I clutch the dash and stomp my foot to the floorboards, as Jazzy throws the car into another crazy turn. You'd think she'd get the message by now, she's scaring the shit out of me. But she doesn't. Not to mention, she's kicked off her sandals and is driving in bare feet, which I'm pretty sure is illegal.
