I strolled into the school alone, after hearing that Mia was sick and unable to drive me today.
I made my way to my locker, where I found Ryan, and instantly turned around.
He grabbed my wrist firmly, and spun me around. I didn't look up at him.
"How's it going?" He slurred.
I tugged my hand free and crossed my arms.
"Fine. Now move, that's my locker, and you don't even go here," I instructed.
He didn't move. Instead, he leaned down, and I backed away instantly.
"I just want to tell you something. I heard Mia's pretty excited you're moving."
"What? No she's not," I said.
He nodded, "yeah. She said you're annoying, and stubborn, and negative. Can't wait until you leave her alone."
"Yeah right," I spat. "And who did you hear that from?"
"Mia. Last night, at our date."
Ryan smirked at me one last time, then said goodbye and walked away.
What the hell?
I didn't even notice Demi, joyfully walking up to me, until she planted a kiss on my cheek.
"Hey," She greeted me. "You okay?"
I shrugged nervously, "oh yeah. Yeah I'm fine."
I leaned down only slightly, and placed a hand on Demi's tanned cheek. I put my lips on hers, and held on for a moment before pulling away.
"Why are you wearing so much makeup?" I questioned her.
"I do everyday," Demi answered.
"Why do you wear so much everyday? You don't need any of it."
She laughed dryly, "you haven't seen me without makeup. And you don't want to."
"That's such a lie. You're beautiful."
I pulled her into me and kissed her lips, smiling as I did so.
"Remember when you were all shy, and you wouldn't even give me a chance? Look at you now," She commented.
I smirked at her angrily and muttered, "shut up."
Demi laughed loudly, like she always did, and hugged me tightly.
For a moment, I thought she was going to say I love you.
But no, Demi is the kind of person who waits for the perfect moment, of the perfect day, at the perfect place.
She's a huge perfectionist.
"Let's go," Demi suggested, taking my hand.
I bit my lip, Ryan and Mia still on my mind. I needed to call Mia as soon as possible, but I didn't want Demi to know.
Demi opened the door for me and asked, "you alright?"
"Yeah, I am. Just a bit distracted."
"What's on your mind?" She replied.
I said, "I just miss Mia."
Demi didn't reply, and her expression dropped. I was curious as to what happened, but I let it go.
"Do you want to hang out with Mia instead?" Demi offered.
I shot her a confused look and answered, "she's sick, and we already made plans. Why do you ask?"
"Because you miss her."
I sighed, "you're jealous, aren't you?"
Demi didn't answer, again, and shoved a few textbooks into her backpack.
"Demiiiii," I sang.
She looked up at me, frowning as I grinned happily at her.
"You're so cute," I added, "don't be jealous over my best friend. You're the only one I like like that."
I tipped her chin upwards, facing her beautiful, dark brown eyes.
She nodded, and reached up to kiss me.
I placed my hands on the back of her waist, lower than usual, and held on to the kiss.
I didn't want it to end.
