The killers apprentice

You wouldnt believe this false hope

"Now don't be irrational here James,do you really want to kill me?" I asked trying to reason with him,clearly it wasn't working.
"Oh please,I've wanted to kill you for a long time" he said bringing the gun to my chest "and finally I have the chance" I gripped my hands onto the railing of the bridge and smiled.
"Well today's your lucky day then." I joked trying to distract James,still didn't work.
He moved the gun from my chest to my head and closed his eyes,
He's nervous I deduced.
He pulled the trigger and my world went to black. My lifeless body fell over the railing and I fell into the river below, it was strange I could still feel,I felt the cold of the water against my pale skin,I felt the rocky bottom of the river against my back. Suddenly I felt a pair of hands grab me from below and pull me through the rock and dirt of the river bed. Then everything stopped , no longer did I feel the hands or the water, now I was really dead...

I woke up in a dark, box-like room with a cloaked figure standing next to me
"Hello? Where am I?" I asked trying to sit up,but couldn't because of a stabbing pain in my skull.
"Oh finally, you're awake!" The tall figure turned around to face me, his face was blackened and burnt.
"Who.....who are yo-"
"Death" he said firmly
"Death? What do you mean?" I stammered
"I am Death,I am the bringer of death,but I am also death itself" he laughed
"And why am I here in your....your lair?" I asked
"You're my apprentice,you're the new Death." He smiled at me, but not a happy smile,a devilish grin.
"How the hell did I end up being the apprentice of death?" I said to myself
"I chose you myself!" He stated proudly "you were the only candidate that possessed the ability"
"What ability?"
"The ability"
"I still don't know what the hell that is"
"You'll know soon,my friend" he said once again showing his devilish grin.
