TIM my parents died earlier this week
PETER Oh my god I'm so sorry
TIM i don't even know why im dropping this on you like this we aren't even really friends we just play games together

PETER And I don't want to make this about me but my parents both died out of nowhere when I was little so I know what it's like

TIM do you still think about your parents
PETER I was only four when they died so I can't really remember them as much as I would like but yeah. All the time really.
TIM what was it like
TIM when it happened i mean
PETER They dropped me off at my aunt and uncles house while they flew to a conference in Switzerland and I just never saw them again. I can remember my uncle getting that call though
PETER We were in the living room watching Ice Age because I loved that movie and the phone rang so he paused it and went to pick it up and I'm not completely sure what they said to him but he just when completely white. And he was a tan guy so it scared me a little but I just wanted to watch the movie because I was a little kid and he wouldn't put it back on so I started to cry and then he just hugged me and started crying and this is so stupid but I still didn't get why he was upset you know? I just remember thinking that we'd both stop being sad if he just put the movie back on but he wouldn't and I just couldn't get why
TIM and you've lived with them ever since?
PETER Yeah, they didn't have kids or anything so I'm like their quasi child
PETER What's your godfather like?
TIM it's hard to explain
TIM he has an older son who doesn't live at home anymore and another one who actually passed away early this year so im the only kid at home but it's a big house and he's always away so it's so empty but even when he's around it's like living with a ghost
TIM don't get me wrong he's a really really good guy but idk he's distant and we have basically nothing in common
PETER His son died this year? He's probably feeling really apprehensive because on one hand he doesn't want you to feel like your a replacement for his son but he doesn't want to feel like he's replacing his son and I'm sure he's not too keen on getting attached to another kid again
PETER I think he'll warm up to you, and you to him
TIM i just feel like he's hiding something
