Jess's POV -------
"BOOM" There was an enormous explosion that rocked the walls of the prison. The sound snatched me from my slumber. I arose from my bed, still half asleep, I began to chuck my clothes on whilst hoping around my room. There was another explosion, I ran to my window and saw a military tank outside the prison perimeter. "Sshhhit!" I yelled grabbing my gun and sprinting from my cell to the courtyard. I paused to see an ocean of people with guns and all sorts, the giant tank behind them. I scanned the sea of people, squinting my eyes as I did, only to see the Governor. He stood proud and mighty with his hands on his hips with a large grin creeping across his face. I began to walk to the small field to get to him, that's when I saw Hershel and Michonne by his side, bound and gagged."Motherfucker!" I shouted, "Things go south? Everyone heads for that bus.
Let everybody know." I said to Glenn, pointing to the school bus in the courtyard. "What if everybody doesn't know when things go bad? How long do we wait?" Glenn asked with a confused and exasperated look on his face. "As long as we can" I stated.
I was about to run towards him but Rick ran past me first, I followed behind him. We reached the gate at the same time, "You shouldn't be here" Rick demanded placing his hands on my shoulders, I shook my head, "I'm staying with you Rick" I expressed bluntly as he took his hands of my shoulders, gave me a slow defeated nod and intertwined his hand in mine.
The Governor approached the fence and began to talk, "I'm sorry to barge in like this, but I we were in the neighbour hood and thought we would visit" He said with a conniving tone. I glanced around to see Hershel and Michonne, they looked like they had been beaten. My breathing sped up "Let 'em go right now" I ordered, the Governor just shook his head. "You got a tank. You don't need hostages." I declared, Rick gave my hand a reassuring squeeze.
"I do." The Governor started "This is just to show you I'm serious... Not to blast a hole in our new home..." He continued, not breaking eye contact with me and Rick. The Governor looked up at the sky, shielding his eyes from the sun. "You got maybe about an hour of sunlight left... I suggest you start packing" he expressed, pointing to our group as he said it. "We're not going any where" Rick replied, shaking his head as he did. "The longer you wait, the harder it's gonna be for you to get out of here" The Governor retorted.
"We can all-- we can all live together... There's enough room for all of us... More than enough..." Rick insisted. The Governor chuckled "I don't think my family would sleep well knowing that you were under the same roof..." He removed his hands from his hips and crosses them across his chest. "Look, I'm not saying it's gonna be easy... Fact is, it's gonna be a hell of a lot harder than standing here shooting at each other." Rick tried to make a solution but the Governor wasn't buying any of it. "He's trying to give you a solution to our problems, the least you could do is listen to him!" I raised my voice, he was really starting to piss me off, it was like banging my head on a brick wall, we were going round in circles and going no where in the process. "That's just not going to happen" the Governor retorted once more.
"You try and force us, we'll fight back.
the gunshots will just bring more walkers out" Rick stated, staring the Governor dead in the eye. "Not to mention the tank which would have rung out for miles thank you very much." I commented, looking at the tank that look .such bigger than it did when I stood in the courtyard. "They'll take down the fences... Without the fences, this place is worthless." I continued, glancing over at the Governor as I tried to get my point across as calmly as possible, without raising my voice too much.
"Now, we can all live in the prison or none of us can." Rick said in the calmest tone that I had heard in a long time, he was trying to keep the piece without it escalating too much. "We'll fix the damn fences..." The governor replied with a chuckle.
Rick shouted, "No--! You..." He pointed to a shy looking girl, her chestnut brown hair was held up in bunches, her eyes were filled with despair and sadness. I knew she didn't want to do what the Governor had brainwashed the rest of them to do what he wanted. She shuffled on the spot when Rick pointed to her. "You in the ponytails...Is this what you want? Is this what any of you want?" He questioned them all. The group began to exchange glances, with a bit of doubt in their eyes. They too began to shuffle on the spot.
"You and your people, you have till sundown to get out of here or they die." The Governor put bluntly. "That's not going to happen... Threats won't help anyone... This has to stop..." Rick paused and took in a deep breath and exhaled before continuing. "Now please... put down your weapons, and walk through those gates... you're one of us... We let go of all of it, and nobody dies." Rick pleaded with desperation.
The Governor chuckled, he placed his hands by his sides and walked up to one of his 'disciples' and pulls out a sword which looked remarkably like Michonnes katana. He slowly trudged behind Hershel and placed the long sharp blade to his throat. "Liar."
