Rowan sat on the edge of her bed as her body filled with nerves. In just two hours she was leaving, for good. She had managed to piss Holden off all day, but nothing to much to cause a scene. Yet.
"You better come up with something quick." Louis's voice said and she turned back to see him at her door.
"I know. I'm trying." She looked out over the balcony and sighed, she couldn't decide if she was going to miss it or not.
"Try harder." He spoke before disappearing and she continued to stare out the window. She watched as Reese loaded guns from a truck into a random shed in the back and as other men helped. She thought about how she could always have Holden pull his gun on her again, but he had so many times he would know something was up if she made a big deal of it. Rowan continued to watch the workers outside, and took special interest in the men who were fighting outside. It was all friendly, she knew that, but it looked so painful and so real. She had always wanted to try hand-to-hand but Holden and her father refused, insisting no one would lay their hands on the princess. Then, it hit her.
She stood up and ran down the stairs, taking them two at a time she found her way into Nate's office. He sat still as she entered with a huge grin on her face which earned her a glare.
"What makes Holden mad?"
"You." His eyes never left the computer and she narrowed her eyes at him and his hostility.
"I don't like that you're doing this."
"Doesn't mean I'm not going to do it." She spat before turning on her heel, and despite his protests she didn't turn back. As she searched for her temperamental brother, she ran into her father.
"What are you doing?" He asked her, he barely ever saw her on this floor of the house.
"Looking for Holden." She said trying to step past him but he caught her arm.
"I don't know what your angle is, but it's working. He's pissed off princess. Stop it now before I have to get involved." His voice held a sense of anger which should've filled Rowan with fear, but instead she just nodded her head and removed her arm from his grasp before continuing her search. She caught the sound of his voice in the hallway and she smiled before waltzing right past him purposefully shoulder checking him. He huffed before a hand fell on her shoulder pulling her back to face him.
"Watch where you fucking walk." Holden spat and Rowan only rolled her eyes.
"You were in my way." She knew that she was going to make him boil over, he was easily playing the part she needed him too.
"What the fuck is up with you today?" He asked and she pushed past him only for him to follow her down the hall. "Are you still wound up about the whole gun thing?"
"You couldn't ever shoot me Holden." She giggled and he glared at her back. She turned to face the glare she already knew was there and sent him a wicked smirk. "You couldn't ever lay a hand on me. No matter how scary you try to be. You're weak."
"Says the girl who cries anytime a gun is shot." Holden sneered and Rowan rolled her eyes before pushing him hard. She needed to speed things up, quickly.
"Watch yourself Rowan, I don't want to do this again." He warned as she walked closer and she only smirked.
"What are you going to do? Point your gun at me? Go ahead if that makes you feel more comfortable." She pushed him again and his breathing picked up.
"You really want to do this right now Rowan? You want to fight me?" He asked and when she nodded, he chuckled.
"I won't fight my baby sister, go to your room princess." He turned around to walk back down to his office when Rowan pushed him again harder than she even predicted. He faced her again and pushed her back slightly, which sent her further than they both thought and he chuckled trying to exit the hall. Rowan knew if tonight was going to work, she had to do this right now. So, she did what she thought was most aggravating, and pulled him back punching him straight in the nose. He was taken back, and his hands went up to his nose immediately.
